Our team is new and needs time to gel. Every team we've played have been playoff teams ranked higher than us. We've dropped most of those games. But, its better for us to drop games against teams we are likely to lose to NOW, then as we get some chemistry going as the season progresses, we'll have more games against the lower half of the league.

Things are definitely getting better, the main thing lacking is our defense. We're scoring at a decent rate, guys are sharing the ball. If we can clamp down on defense a little bit, it will reap tremendous rewards. Also, neither Melo, nor Rose has really gone off yet.

Relax.

That is right. We still have yet to play a bad team. If we go 2-4 against every 6 playoff teams like we just did, and beat the teams we are supposed to beat, we will make the playoffs.

so we don't have to beat good teams, just bad teams. Awesome!

Prepare the thread for the inevitable "low expectations" rebuttals from the Rose/Melo hating crew, complete with the "wins per million" analysis of PJax.

Defensively, we can't be this bad over the long haul, IMHO, if we manage to escape any major injuries. And with the exception of a game or two by Jennings, this bench has sucked major donkey kong so far. They will improve with time.

I thought rhe bench played much better with Randle on both ends of the court. I also thought the combination of Randle/Baker/Holliday was effective. It will be interesting to see who the odd man out is when they bring Randle back. I thin Ndour is on the bubble, but Plumblee is the guy who needs time to develop in the D league. Kuz and Willy aren't getting cut and I guess Sasha has his use for the team. Coach loves Baker and Plumblee. I guess Ndour is the most likely to get cut even though I would rather see us develop him. This is a tough call. My heart sats bye bye Sasha, but I doubt that will happen.

Playing Randle off the bench, allows Jeff to go small. When we go small, we have the speed to switch and guard pick and rolls....We have speed to score easy buckets.

With our traditional twin tower lineup and Melo at the 3, we are slow on both ends. It's not complicated.

We had a twin tower lineup last year with Melo at the 3, and we had the best rim defense on the planet. Where and when did that get complicated? Noah is that much worse than Robin Lopez?

Playing more difficult opponents at the beginning is going to help us as the season unfolds.
In the past this team has had a really bad habit of playing up and playing down to competition.
Getting consistently good teams to play against early on will help bring consistency.
I suspect we are at about .500 by then end of November, but then have a better than expected December.

Is Noah that much slower than Rolo? Rolo and KP were adequate for much of last year. Knicks rim protection and 3point line protection (with AA and Jose as starters) were decent statistically for a good part of the year (that's right, right?).

Small sample size or something else going on?

It is a small sample size. Specially with Noah missing pre season games. I do notice, however, that Noah comes out much more on PnR's than Rolo did. Therefore leaving lane open more frequently. Think it should improve as he gets his legs back and his recovery speed improves.
