I know porzingis worked on his lower body in off season but does anyone else think porzongis seems weaker this year than last? Seems to get pushed around a little more and not rebounding as well. Also not challenging well at the rim. What do you think?

He's trying to figure things out, but I think he will be fine. He's not weaker. He looks the same.

Didn't notice and honestly don't mind if this scoring continues. Although I think for his rebounding to improve he may need to bulk up a little (but don't overdo it as it strips him of his agility). A move to 5 could mean he simply outspeeds other fives on both ends maybe? However his boxing out will be hampered

He seems content playing within the flow.... I do like how Horny went to Porzingis against the Bulls. It was still in the flow though. It's not like he was taking over. If they go to him he just reacts accordingly. He's an interesting player.

Teams have scouted him heavily now.

They know they can be physical with him and put smaller guys on him to not let him be free on offense at the perimeter. Key for us is him getting the ball when matched up like that against smalls.

On defense they have definitely figured out they can be physical with him and get away with it plus he seems very protective of the basket area and teams are catching him with open looks from outside while he's not able to rotate from that interior rim protection position.

I feel so far I've seen significant improvement in his shot and creative instincts, especially his ballhandling. At the same time I feel he hasn't focused as much on defense and the boards. Last year he wasn't expecting to be a top 2 option so he tried to impact with defence and boards. This year you clearly see he wants his priority to be scoring.

Gibson was pushing him around pretty good. I think That PZ and Lopez clearly developed a rapport in defense and that helped JP considerably and the same will occur with Noah. The best is yet to come. From last night game, if Rose can score 14-16 and facilitate and feed Kp then his chances of resigning are improved. Melo had some garbage buckets late but since last year his Shootinf is no longer lights out. Kp shoots a better % and it matters. Lee is the real deal.

I was a little concerned about the huge ice pack he had on his upper back during his post game interview. That is a new addition. Hopefully nothing is up.

Part of the confusion may also be because how bad our overall team defense is. His instincts are to guard the rim bit he had to help out on the perimeter when the others can't keep people in front of them. There are times he is the only one playing defense.

I noticed that KP closed out on 3pt shooters much better. His technique was better. He's simply not as strong as most NBA bigs and that is something he'll have to deal with. He is just a kid that is a late developer. I was like that. Other guys got big faster than me but eventually I filled out. Everyone is different genetically. KP is just on his own schedule in terms of filling out his frame.

The thing is he's also ridiculously quick and agile for a 7-3 guy!!! He runs like a Gazelle and that Trailer Dunk he had just shows how fast he is. I see no reason to get too concerned with his lack of strength right now when SPEED KILLS! Let KP be that quick guy and he'll eventually figure out how to play in space and keep people off of him. He should always be moving. Don't let people get into his body. He needs to use his long arms to keep space between his body and his opponent.

KP time to play the focal point is not there yet.
He have to play in the flow of the game.
When he does it he has a huge impact.
When he forces it he looks silly at many occasions.
He need to learn to let it go when play is not there.
This will come with experience.

Doing a 180 on KP. Wanted him to be a power Center that can also shoot and post up. Think the weight gained slowed him down a bit. Now thinking he should be more like KD. When was the last time KD needed extra weight to muscle guys down low? Liked him cutting, catching and shooting and taking wide open 3's last night. Looked active. He does seem more comfortable not having to defend 3pt. threats. Ie. Love, Anderson, Rockets. Think as the year progresses he will get use to the extra weight and only get stronger. He definitely looked quick last night! Just has to work on not leaving his feet defending jump shots. Kid has to realize he's 7'3.

KP simply must learn to NOT JUMP when guys pump fake. He doesn't need to jump anyway. If he can resist the urge to jump he'll cut down on his fouls too. It's ok to jump when it's help D but when it's on a close out he should stay down.

So far this year KP has raised his FG% +50 points vs last year, FG % is up +100 points, ORB are also up +0.2, scoring is up to 17 (almost +3 vs last year) and his TOs are down 1 per game.

His defensive rebounding is down -1.2, FT% is down over -100 points, blocks down -0.7 per gameand his D has been sloppy, erratic.

He looked great in pre-season physically but he certainly looks a tad sluggish lately even given his great scoring game last night. I was wondering if I might have an injury and or if he was figuring out how much he can workout off the court in season. It's sometimes possible for guys to leave their legs in the workout gym if they are trying to maintain strength.

If you toss out the Houston game which was on a back-back he's scoring over 20 per.

last year he was typically a very smart defender who handled switches great -- I wonder if he's trying too hard to make great plays/blocks -- just odd some of his D so far.

That's right. And with his length he doesn't need to jump. He can be disruptive all the same. Jumping to block a 3pointer is not a smart defensive play no matter what.
