Randle clearly the bubble guy.

Probably keep him instead of Plumlee if Randle is not injured . . .

Baker does have that look of a guy that gets it. He knows how to play and fits like a glove in this group. The kid doesn't need the ball in order to be effective but can handle it just enough to be effective. Tough kid as well.

We are talking about the 15th guy on the roster, right?

Agree. Liked Randle but questioned his defense. Baker is a well rounded player. Makes the right play, has understanding of the game and seems ready for the spot light. Also like Ndour. Has NBA body and a great hustle guy. Tough giving up a good shooter in Randle but hoping they can sign him to Westchester. But with other teams needing a guard, don't see him staying unsigned. The injury may help Knicks out. Wish him luck if it's not meant to be on the Knicks.

He's not lost until he signs with another team. He's not playing ball for 4-6 weeks right? The market will be flooded with these types of guys looking for jobs. What is the risk of losing Randle? Realistically? Especially if/when our management likes him? Go establish yourself in the dleague, learn the system and hopefully get called up sometime this year. Knicks two top PGs are a) both FAs at the end of the year and b) injury prone.

While its a setback is there a better option out there for Randle than the KNicks dleague? Unless of course they just don't like him. The injury is a tough break for him, but he Knicks stuck with the guy that can play right away and they targeted immediately after the draft.

True. Spencer Dinwiddie's one of those guys and it looks like the Bulls just released him:

Real nice player. Big guard at 6'6" and he's a legit point guard. I'd LOVE for the Knicks to get this kid. Surprised Phil's not more interested in this guy--I would've thought he'd be exactly what Phil likes & is looking for in a guard--size and versatility.

He is very talented. I am sure he ends up on a team. I am glad Grant didn't get cut but he still isn't in the best situation.

Cutting Lou made sense but I wasn't sure that they would do it.

Grant's a first rounder. Doesn't make sense to chop him now with another whole season left after this one right?

As for Randle another aspect is he's tiny. You already have Rose/Jennings... two fast guys who are small and have defensive liabilities. I think with Baker who can play and guards 1s and 2s that was probably part of what Harlow was talking about when she said they are focused on guys who can play multiple spots.

Not sure about that move . . .

Was thinking the same thing. I like Dinwiddie more myself.

so if grant beat out dinwiddie what does that say about dinwiddie (it could mean he's worse or it could mean the bulls are wrong about him)

I think part of it might have to do with length of contract and the cost to waive one of them. The Bulls are pretty hard to figure out.

these were good decisions.

now is hornacek going to do the right if unpopular thing and get baker significant minutes at the expense of ennings and rose?

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I guess Grant has a 1st round pick contract guaranteed for multiple years -- is that the issue (?)

Dinwiddie completely outplayed him in pre-season . . .

I got no love for Rose.

Baker is already WAY ahead of Rose as a promising Triangle combo guard . . .

Hard to argue with those choices. Randle is probably not going to be snapped up by another team for now. Im glad N'Dour is still here. Guys like Thomas and N'Dour are glue guys. They do better IMO when they know what they're keeping glued together. Once the rotation solidifies, I expect both of them to be doing their part.

Can Baker really play the point? If rose or jennings go down for a few games who would be the backup? Baker?

He handled pressure last night in the closing minutes at the point. He did pretty well. He can play the point a little. I hope the Knicks revisit Randle.

That's what I was thinking. Cutting Grant would affect their cap, right?
