He was one of the big the difference makers last night and was also+24-- Inside outside rebounding and passing.

I suspect O'Quinn is like most every basketball player in the NBA. He has the talent to do what he did last night, that's why he's here.

But what separates most great, good, average, bad players in the ability to bring it consistently.

O'Quinn looked very good at times last year too.

The issue is how often can he do that.

I don't think one preseason game offers any promise of something we didn't already know.

its a very new team. KOQ isn't a high end NBA player, he's a role player. He has a skill set. The biggest factor in a great player's ability to elevate the play of the role players around him is the skill set of that role player. The way they set picks and pass Willy and Noah strike me as the fit for this team. That being said KOQ has worked hard this offseason to improve his shot and his conditioning and I think we certainly saw that yesterday. Competition is good. KOQ has a very nice contract with 3 years left on it. We all figure that Noah is going to miss games this season so even if KOQ gets beat by Willy for the backup C role he's going to have stretches where he gets plenty of burn. Competition is good. We need depth, and I am thrilled to see KQO playing well. He's a good locker room guy and a great teammate.

Hubie Brown basically said this about KOQ last night: "If you catch this guy on the right night you can fall in love."

I think there'll be some games where KOQ is the most effective backup, some where it's Willy G, some where it's Plum-lord. Nice to have some versatile depth in the bigs.

I suspect they all get short leashes. Zero reason to stick with one over another if the guy who's playing is struggling. They all play hard. Who defends the most effectively and who's hitting their shots will probably the determining factor.

That's the strength of the team. I'm hoping guys go all out and keep the gang mentality. None of this I want to stay on the floor so they stop being aggressive. I want guys to go hard knowing if they get in trouble the sub will come in and clean up for them.
