7-9 in 3 pointers
avg 16 points 4 reb 2 assists in 19 minutes and his eFG is off the charts. It was so obvious that this guy was a perfect 6th man who plays basketball the way the NBA is moving. I dont understand why we wanted Branden Jennings for so much more--a guy who shoots 37% for his career? Curry also a better defnder

Phil Jackson put a LOT on players who have been down in their careers injured. I think Rose will play good basketball--that was the only deal I was on board with. Noahs going downhill and hes just going to be injury prone and Jennings will be a nothing.

I think we have a great player in Porzingis a really good player in Carmelo and I happen to like Rose myself but hes not a Jason Kidd(meaning hes not a really good true PG and doesnt play tough D on the other end) It will be interesting to see if the cost was too high. So the Knicks will win games but we will be a prisoner to Noahs playing time and needed production.

BRIGGS...so far (and i repeat so far)...you look to be ABSOLUTELY on the money about curry. i thought maybe his numbersin the spring were an aberration but dude can SHOOT!you pair him with coach carlisle and his fascination for playing six thousand small guards and now you will see productivity. again, dude just needed a chance and looks like he has it. so far so good

i def remember you were high on seth curry and i thought of you when he was nailing those jumpers last nite

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

ned--hes a high quality player to have on your team the way the game is played. It was a no brainer. Is he a star--no. Is he a guy who can play 6th or 7th man and give high efficient production --absolutely. Can he step in and start a bunch of games--absolutely. Can he play in three guard sets--absolutely--hes versatile. I mean whatever. Im not sure what we are doing with B Jennings hes a below avg 3 point shooter has lost a step on defense isnt very big--hell have some good games and hes going to have a good amount of 3-11 games too with low 30s # pt shooting.

Agreed Briggs. I liked Curry before you brought him up. A bit like his brother, under the radar for most of his career and then finally people catch on.
I do like Jennings, but money wise, I would have went for Curry and tried to still get Jennings.

I like our team but I'm not sure I like building around KP with a lot of old folks.

We're talking about 2 games and he's only making 30% of his 2 point shots. His defensive numbers are not good. His man shot 49.1% when guarded by him and 44.0% when guarded by other players last year. 2 yrs, 6 mil is a small contract and I would have been OK with that though.

He looks really solid. I do wish we'd been able to take a flier on him. Defensively he has issues, but it'd be nice to have a knockdown shooter at the PG who could also make plays... who wasn't named Jose Calderon...

That said, we have two PGs who can penetrate in a way we haven't had at the position in years. Also maybe Chasson Randle can do some things this year. He looked good in SL and hit a really deep three against the Rockets in the first pre-season game. If Rose has to miss some of the next few pre-season games with the trial, hopefully Randle will get a longer look.

would you take Curry over willy or Kuz? Those are the choices. Curry is a nice bench player. He didn't fit economically and I don't have a problem with that as that money went to the guys I mentioned. Just my 2c

Yeah it's always a game you can play if we could've got this guy or that guy! There's a lot that goes into building a team and financially you have tough choices to make.

I actually think Randle has a good shot to make the team. He's got some good talent as well. I'm fine with the status of our guards. We have to give it more than one preseason game for these guys to show what they can really do.

I think the key point is production per $. A very cheap gamble.
We do have Randle, and apparently he has a future. But Curry has a bit of the genes going on...

That said, thanks for correcting the defensive numbers. Bad Briggs (unless the eye is better than the stat.)

Right now, I am happy with Willy and/or Kuz. Actually his contract is equivalent to Kuz. Now if I had to pick between Seth and a combo of Lou and Sasha then I would like to have Seth.

Sasha is a Phil pick. Not that that makes it right, especially given the track record of Odom, Metta World Peace...

Was Seth even still available by the time we signed back Lou?

Seth was signed by Dallas 1 day after we signed Sasha back in mid July. Lou was a very late signing. Seth was available but I guess our scouts and upper management did not think he was a match for what our team needs.

I'd rather have Jennings than Curry for the simple fact that Rose comes with medical risk

We'll see what happens when other teams start scouting him.

When you inject a player like Curry into a line up of Dirk Matthews Barnes etc.. hes not going to be the guy that's keyed. Hes a smart player who will take advantage of that. Here with Porzingis Carmelo Rose etc.. he wouldve been a good 6th or 7th man used as a combo guard to spread the floor. Most of these guards are combo guards anyway. Jennings does bring the break down ability but hes also a low 30 3 pt shooter.

I wanna see more of Randle in these next few games. Agree Crzy -- silver lining to having Rose miss some time with the trial--we get to take a closer look at Randle (along with Jennings in a starting role). Randle looked OK the other night--made that deep 3 at the top, had the nice fake to free himself up for a jumper (that Harrell blocked), then I thought his play fell off a little after that (had that one really bad cross court turnover toward the end). he did look good in summer league too, however I'm not convinced on Randle just yet. Also wanna see who shakes loose from other teams before the season starts. I haven't looked around the league at every training camp roster but off the top of my head, I still really like Spencer Dinwiddie a lot (he may not make that Chicago team), etc..

I'm pretty sure most of us were wanting Phil to sign Seth but it didn't happen so instead of complaining 1 preseason game into our season about how we didn't sign him why don't we just hope for the best with who we did sign??

I like Randle a lot. He was great in the summer league and knows the triangle.
