The Warriors sign Damp for the same amount they paid Foyle his buddy from Golden State and trade him to the Knicks along with Evan Eshmeyer who is hurt and may not even play for Naz Mohammed, a good backup to Foyle and Moochie Norris. The Warriors may need to trade Speedy Claxon, which they may do, considering they signed Fisher this off-season.

This is probably the best S&T scenerio where a third team is not involved. The Warriors may want expiring contracts but this deal may be too good to pass up, because they get rid of Eshmeyer and get a good player in Naz.

Why might they need to trade Speedy Claxton, he's their starting PG?

I don't think they'll want Norris. They had interest in Nazr, but acquiring a third PG makes no sense at all.

They have a lot of PFs and Cs. They don't need to spend $10 mil for 2 years on Nazy. It's hard to picture a sign and trade working with them. Our best shot is the MLE.

a 3rd team getting involved is the only real way a sign & trade could work at this point.

I think the Knicks should offer Kurt straight up for Damps.

With Kurt's 15% trade kicker and the 15% trade rule, we could pay Damps 30% more than Kurt is making this year. That would mean a starting salary of $7.64 million for Damps and I believe a six year contract in the neighborhood of $60 million. The Knicks could offer five years for $50 million or so, all guaranteed and it would be better than Atlanta's offer.

I don't know if Mullin would like Kurt, but it seems like he would. Kurt would be insurance for Foyle or Murphy and is much younger and more valuable than Dale Davis. The only problem is his four year deal.

Similary, if the Knicks offered Nazr straight up for Damps, they could sign Damps to a six year $53 million deal if we gave him a starting salary 15% higher than Nazr's and gave him the 15% raise every year. This is greater than the Hawks deal.

We could expand the Nazr deal to include Moochie and take back Evan Eschymeyer. If we threw in $3 million, GSW would be ridding themselves of Evan, getting a nice piece in Nazr, and Moochie's contract ends a year sooner than Evan's (the same year Nazr's does).

They would only be taking on an additional $5.57 million in total contract value, and they would get salary room a year earlier and get Nazr for two years, who most people would agree is better than Foyle.

I think Golden State might take either trade, especially if we threw in a second round pick or something.

If they offered Kurt straight up, they could offer Damps either a fiver year $51.5 million deal or a 6 year $67 million deal. A lot of money, but I'd offer the five year deal and see if they bite. I think Mullin might take Kurt, but would be more inclined to take Nazr.

the Mavs currently have 16 players under contract according to Hoopshype...they will need to strike a 2 for 1 type deal somehow before the start of the season or else buy out 1 of their players...maybe a deal could be struck like this:

NY trades KT & 2nd round pick
NY gets Dampier

GS trades Dampier
GS gets Laettner (expiring contract), Mbenga & two 2nd round picks (from NY & DAL)

DAL trades Laettner, Mbenga & 2nd round pick
DAL gets KT

- for NY, this gets them the player they need in Dampier
- for GS, this gets them an expiring contract, a young bigman prospect & two 2nd round picks over simply allowing Dampier to walk for nothing
- for DAL, this gets DAL a tough frontcourt player they have always liked & solves their roster issue

i think it works for all parties here.

Superbly crafted proposal. I'd do that depending on the length of Dampier's contract.

I think this is pretty likely what it would and will take.

BTW, Zeke just told Mad Dog that they have tried two sign and trades this summer, that they got one done, and are now working on the second one. I take it that is Dampier.
