It was CLEARLY Stated that they're still gonna run Triangle, but simply with greater spacing. An experienced Vet like Lou who has played in MULTIPLE systems over his career can indeed help a coach to demonstrate things to young guys and guys who have Zero NBA experience. I think people are overreacting to this. It's a smart move for Training Camp. This doesn't mean he's going to actually take up a roster spot. We'll have to see what happens. Also Randle could have his spot already pretty much set in stone for all we know.

Right. I don't get this at all. Just read it's a 1-yr fully guaranteed contract. To me, 'guaranteed' means here to stay for the year -- I don't think Dolan would consent to giving anyone guaranteed money, even a 1-yr deal at the minimum, and then waiving said player after training camp. Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't see Dolan throwing Lou a bone like that. Don't even think that's what Phil has in mind either. I think Phil, for whatever reason, believes he's a keeper, worth tying up a roster spot with for the season...3 moves I just don't get in all honesty: giving guaranteed money to Vujacic, Marshall Plumlee (I believe Plumlee got 3 years guaranteed) and now Amundson.

What a strange move -- nice guy, good locker room guy, good practice body -- that very well may be, but to me, that wouldn't be nearly enough to warrant bringing a guy back at guaranteed money and tying up a roster spot if that's all a guy had to offer. A player's got to give me something more than that to warrant guaranteed money and a spot on the 15-man, even if it's just on potential alone. I'm not nearly as big on minor intangible stuff like that as some of you guys (like the rumor that we resigned Vujacic because it's good for KP. Come on--KP doesn't need a babysitter!). Lou's not a good player, that's the bottom line. I don't even see how he'd get any time. Who's he ever playing over? I wouldn't even want him playing over N'Dour -- Mo N'Dour's 10x more talented on both ends... Maybe if we were the top team in the league and the rest of our roster was already top shelf ready to go, then whatever, OK bring Lou back for the year. It wouldn't even matter. That's not the case here. And you can't tell me we're only interested in team full of choir boys -- then why make the big trade for D-Rose?

So that's that -- I think the roster's set now at 15 pretty much. My main thing -- what happens if there's ever a scenario where Rose and Jennings are both out at the same time for a stretch? Who drives the bus then? A lot of time, effort, trade assets and money went into reshaping this roster -- it would be a shame to have a scenario where we're without Rose AND Jennings for a stretch and not have someone waiting in the wings that can adequately steer the ship. Completely agree--we really needed another ball-handler to complete this roster, preferably someone in the same vein as Rose/Jennings this way we could still maintain an uptempo/fast paced style (which is why I was starting to warm up to the idea of signing Chasson Randle--I think he would've fit that bill). Can't believe Phil doesn't see it the same way, unless he's already gotten a commitment by Randle and/or Baker to play for Westchester, where they'd be down there ready to go at a moment's notice. Are either of those guys OK with that, enough to turn down guaranteed money in Europe for the year/multiple years or a chance to make another NBA team? I wouldn't be surprised if either Randle or Baker bolted overseas or signed with another NBA team now.

I don't get it the big deal either. Why would anyone care about Knicks giving guys guaranteed money that doesn't affect the salary cap? It's not coming out of our wallets, yet some people act like it is. If they want to sign an entire D-league team with guaranteed salaries to prevent them from going overseas or signing with another team, why would anyone care?
