If I was an African American leader Id go to Trump and say Mr Trump can we get your word you will come in and rebuild our inner cities schools and make sure our neighborhood are safe--and if need be we want it patrolled by a largely African American police force to ensure people feel safe? What did Obama do for AA? He did sht if not backwards. Hillary Clinton--exactly WTF do you think shes going to do for you--shes a crook who has made 200mm $ from taking bribes and playing foul. She wants to be the first female President--to me thats more embarrassing than the narcissist Trump--shes an awful choice. I feel Trump will do a good job because he works hard---he wants safe streets --I get what he is saying through the muddle. People can come to the US from anywhere at anytime and just get theirs for free--you CANNOT do that anywhere else on Earth. He is saying lets make this a country thats safe and secure for its residents that belong here. That means Hispanics Asians White AA--all of us. You can see he will reach out---where did Obama ever reach out--8 years nada nothing--he didnt do jack.

I wasn't happy with how Trump changed his to e again when speaking to supporters. Either he is purposely trying to rile up his supporters thinking there is enough of them who will vote him in or he's still not seeing the full picture. It was getting harder for me to defend his more recent actions but I really liked how his new campaign manager reeled him in and got him back on message. Right before he canned Maniford I was saying Trump needs to stop getting sidetracked and ease up with the unnecessary rhetoric that Has done him no good. In fact lead to him falling 10pts behind Hillary in he polls. He closed within 2pts as of last night but I'm sure his deficit increased some after last nights speech. His new campaign manager seemed to get brought to him that I order to win he needs to use more unifying language and policies. He was sounding as Presidential as ever for a past few weeks. He meeting with the President of Mexico went well and then he got sidetracked again late last night

Briggs there is so much to disagree with here it's hard to find where to start.
- Yes minorities have not been treated fairly. But what party has been behind voter suppression aimed at minorities. What party has fought affirmative action. Since the civil rights movement drove southern whites to the republican, the republican party has consistently played to it's base, consistently taking action that hurt minorities. Read what Ehrlichman said about Nixon's War on Drugs.Note how the inner city drug crack were treated much more harshly than powdered cocaine. The republican party has consistently done their best to suppress minority votes and treat minorities more harshly in the criminal justice system.

- Since when do you have to be a narcisist to want to do a good job. Everyone who becomes president wants to do a good job - a narcissist only cares about appearing to do a good job.

- Trump has a long history of screwing people in negotiations. He brags about his bankruptcies being good business - maybe - but he screwed the people left holding the bag. Than there are all the little guys he intimidated into taking pennies on the dollar. Why exactly should minorities trust him to cut them a good deal?

- Why do you think Trump would sincerely try to help anyone - please point out all those times in his history when he has put other's before himself or tried to help anyone? He doesn't even donate to his own 'charity' - LOL. The guy is probably one of the most selfish people on the face of the earth. Why would you possibly think he gave a s&*t about anyone but himself.

- You think Hillary has no policies. The only thing Trump has served up is Stupid Rhetoric - there is nothing apart from it.

- Trump has only reached out to minorities now, because he has finally realized that he needs to carry at least some small percentage to have a chance. He has been campaigning for over year based on returning America to the time when minorities, women and gays had no social, economic or political power. Even with all the problems we have America is greater now, than the America Trump wants to return us to.

PS - Left out totally that the guy obsession with tabloid level conspiracy theories. I wouldn't trust the guy to watch my dog - never mind lead my country.

Was the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 nothing?

Were the DoJ investigations into these police brutality cases nothing?

Have you heard of his My Brother's Keeper initiative?

He has also been accused of being too much of a scold to our communities to some while others say he hasn't done enough to get "our house" in order. His wife has fought a good fight in promoting healthy activities and food options in our communities.

This isn't even mentioning things like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or anything else his administration has done to protect the health and finances of all Americans, particularly the most vunerable of us, including ethnic minorities and LBGT folks.

There is a real rock and a hard place with his presidency I wonder if you even appreciate that. I'm sure he has pressure to not "play favorites" in this regard. And again, as a symbol of black achievement he's been pretty powerful. No dumb personal scandals and I think he's been a poised, articulate, and honorable representative home and abroad. But to listen to your boy Donnie he's a foreign-born Muslim who founded ISIS. He doesn't even throw Obama a bone of recognition... while Obama has at least a kind word about the Reagan administration from time to time.

I have serious policy disagreements with Obama and Hillary. I don't know if I am going to vote for Hillary, but I sure as **** ain't voting for a ****-talking hypocritical narcissist. Again: as a private citizen he hasn't done nearly as much as he could to create jobs here for citizens with his models on tourist visas, illegal workers on his building sites, and foreign-made products. Think he's putting affordable housing in Trump Tower or is he just getting foreign investors and corporations snapping up apartments people don't even live in full-time?

I hear you on illegal immigration but when this country starts dealing with the employers as strongly as Trump's rhetoric is towards individuals, I'll believe that we are finally getting serious about it.

Here is a fun website in case you are interested in some policies enacted in the Obama administration, so you don't keep saying silly things like he has done nothing:

http://whatthe****hasobamadonesofar.com/

Some of your complaints about Obama may be valid, but your hyperbole is getting in the way.

If he's gonna win anyway, why worry about what black folks and Latinos are gonna do on Election Day? If it's such a foregone conclusion, what are we even talking about this for? He's got this, then. I guess we'll just try to get some of those wall-building gigs and see if we can work our way into his meeting calendar, with our Muslim beanies in hand.

Five general sociological observations on display on this thread:

1.) Trump supporters can't seem to go a paragraph without talking about Clinton.

Even with his own supporters, there is an unwillingness or inability to endorse his candidacy on its own terms. It only works in contrast.

2.) Trumps supporters seem uniformly fixated on the results of the election ("Trump is going to win", "Trump is going to surprise") rather than actual policy.

3.) Trump supporters are emboldened and come out of hibernation and begin predicting victory during those rare instances when the candiate doesn't shoot himself in the foot for a few consecutive days at a time.

4.) Trump supporters don't seem to fundamentally grasp what powers the office of POTUS actually possesses, which is logically a reflection of the candidate's own lack of understanding.

5.) Trump supporters can't or won't engage in substantive policy discussion.

Again, like a reflection of the candidate himself, they seem to favor broad declarative statements/boasts. Confronted with reasonable points of debate and discussion of the issues, they remain lockset on simply expressing their own vague feelings.

Entertaining and addressing any challenge to their preconceived notions doesn't seem to be in their skill set.

That's one thing us African American need to get more in the habit of. Voting locally, supporting and funding local politicians who have our best interest. While I don't have an opinion on Kapernick sitting during the anthem in terms of patriotism. At the end of the day it probably won't be as productive as if he used his millions and networked with other millionaires given his platform in order to support and fund the people who will have to power to make the necessary changes and developments.

Can't just be about the president.

Shouldn't be about the President at all.

He has no power to rebuild inner cities. Congress holds the power over the U.S. domestic fiscal policy. And NO GOP controlled House is going to adopt that agenda.

The President holds no power to shape local law enforcement.

This is the problem. It isn't the ignorance as much as the lack of a conscious about the ignorance.

People just don't CARE that they're uninformed and don't even possess a basic foundation in which to make a good decision.

They prefer their conviction to be misinformed if they want to and on display here, the feel empowered by the strength of their misinformed numbers, which is misinformation in of itself.

If two people have a meeting, and come away from it with two wildly different accounts on what was even discussed — i.e. Mexico paying for a big, beautiful wall on our southern border — how is that an example of a meeting that went well?

There is no way for us to know what actually was said in that off-the-record meeting, so how can you say it went well?

Same way we don't know what Trump is hiding financially, because he won't release any of his tax returns. This is unprecedented behavior from a major party candidate since Watergate. Only 3rd party Perot in '92 didn't do this.

But I guess once you become a billionaire you don't have to worry about accountability and transparency, right? Anyone vigilant about Hillary's obscurantism but is so easily able to give Trump a pass on his is being a hypocrite.

United States Congress elections, 2016. A total of 469 seats in the U.S. Congress (34 Senate seats and all 435 House seats) are up for election on November 8, 2016. The big story of the 2016 congressional election cycle is whether or not the Democratic Party will be able to regain control of the Senate.

I think the thing over Trump's tax returns are likely overstated.

If released I'm certain they'd be astonishingly excellent and show only positive results.

I'd be willing to wager that unequivocally, he has the best tax returns of any man ever elected to presidency.

No doubt! Can you imagine the deductions? The best deductions I bet. We'd just get sick of all of Trump's great deductions. Oh man, and the effective tax rate? I bet he won't be caught paying 14% like that loser Romney. Sad! Winners don't pay a rate that high... what a lousy deal.

It's best we don't worry our pretty little heads about it I reckon.

It tough now...I have voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the past based on issues..But what you are seeing now since Obama and even before, Republican politicians now caucus as a voting block..You rarely see house members vote out of step with their party..

Trump foundation "donates" $25,000 to Florida attorney general campaign to make Trump University fraud allegations go away..

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/09/01/trump-pays-irs-a-penalty-for-his-foundation-violating-rules-with-gift-to-florida-attorney-general/

Donald Trump paid the IRS a $2,500 penalty this year, an official at Trump's company said, after it was revealed that Trump's charitable foundation had violated tax laws by giving a political contribution to a campaign group connected to Florida's attorney general.

The improper donation, a $25,000 gift from the Donald J. Trump Foundation, was made in 2013. At the time, Attorney General Pam Bondi was considering whether to investigate fraud allegations against Trump University. She decided not to pursue the case.

Earlier this year, The Washington Post and a liberal watchdog group raised new questions about the three-year-old gift. The watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, filed a complaint with the IRS — noting that, as a registered nonprofit, the Trump Foundation was not allowed to make political donations.

The Post reported another error, which had the effect of obscuring the political gift from the IRS.

In that year's tax filings, The Post reported, the Trump Foundation did not notify the IRS of this political donation. Instead, Trump's foundation listed a donation — also for $25,000 — to a Kansas charity with a name similar to that of Bondi's political group. In fact, Trump's foundation had not given the Kansas group any money.

The prohibited gift was, in effect, replaced with an innocent-sounding but nonexistent donation.

Trump's business said it was unaware of any of these mistakes until March, when it heard from the watchdog group and The Post.

On Thursday, Jeffrey McConney — senior vice president and controller at the Trump Organization — said that after being notified, Trump filed paperwork informing the IRS of the political gift and paid an excise tax equal to 10 percent of its value.

McConney said that Trump had also personally reimbursed the Trump Foundation for $25,000, covering the full value of the improper gift. McConney blamed a series of mistakes, all of them unintentional. McConney said there had been no attempt to deceive.

"It was just an honest mistake," McConney said. He added: "It wasn’t done intentionally to hide a political donation, it was just an error."

Honestly I'm still trying to wrap my head around why these two are the presidential candidates. These two might be the two worst people in the world.

I'll tell you what the problem is! Most African Americans still live in the Black Belt, which are the former Slave holding states. The cities and towns have been run by the same power structure since before the Civil War and after Reconstruction 1870's. They've kept things the way they always have been using local government and police. I live in the Deep South and I can tell you NOTHING has really changed. They just recently had their first Senior Prom that wasn't segregated in many towns down here!!! You have no idea how things really are outside the Blue State Cities.

What do you think about hypothetical situation is we will create all black state... All non-African American will move out and African American will move in.
No white policing, no white/asian businesses, no institutional racism... Will this sate be a great place to live for African American people?
