I wouldn't have a problem with it but I don't think he'll settle for a minimum deal. Some team out there will eventually pay him more IMO. His agent will probably just tell him to stay patient and at some point there will be a need due to injury and he can get a better than Minimum deal.

id stay away from him man - its sounds tempting and everything but i just think that he will be a liability on the teams chemistry ...cant risk that

Eny didn't though, he's asking if you'd go for Stephenson at the minimum

I would do it.

He's always been a target of mine for this team, but I think now with guys like Joakim Noah and CLee and even a more mature Melo to be stabilizing forces and leaders on this squad, I think he could be a great fit.

If we're really going all in this season, why the hell not?

Not sure a minimum deal gets it done, but not sure who else out there with money would actually try to sign him either.

I'd definitely consider it.

One negative - in the stops where he's had to come off the bench and been less engaged, he seems to get distracted and have problems. When he started in Memphis to end last season, he was close to as good as he had been in Indiana.

I don't know about his personality - is he ready to be a good soldier? Could Phil get through to him? Phil has always liked having a loose cannon like Artest or Rodman - but that was to make sure his already championship-caliber squads stayed alert and to give them some edge. Is this Knicks team ready for a Lance type personality? Would he give them edge?

I'd be curious to try him out. One year minimum deal - easy enough to cut ties if he doesn't play hard or within the team structure.

If you can get him for the minimum for 1 yr, you do it. At 25yrs old he'll be looking to reclaim his rising star status.

I would actually like see him be a point forward on the 2nd unit.

Point forward: Stephenson
G: Jennings
G: Holiday
F: L.Thomas
C: O'quinn

Jennings & Holiday are shooters which would complement him. Not to mention his Defense.

The Clippers tried to make him a forward and it didn't work. Memphis put the ball back in his hands at guard and his numbers went back up to where they should be.

Lance never had any off the court issues. He's a quirky dude though. Very animated. He plays hard though. I like him handling the ball. He's very elusive and strong. He's like anthony Mason at the shooting guard spot. He would be a threat to Lee and Holiday in the back court. That could be a good or bad thing. So I might not work for us.... but I do like the idea of putting Lance in there off the bench. Lance still has the potential to overtake Courtney Lee in the back court. Is interesting

Lance is 25 years old and he has been on 4 teams already. Played well in Indy, not so well in Charlotte and the Clippers, improved in Memphis. So he's a 50/50 risk and the upside isn't worth the risk in my opinion. Sure, he could be 2012-13 JR Smith or he could be 2014-15 JR Smith. I don't trust the dude to be an asset which explains why he's still a free agent.

I would totally go get him for the min. There was a thread a few weeks ago about him on here and I thought that we'd go get him at the time as well.
As for team chemistry...people can go grow up and mature.

He is a playmaker, he knows how to play the game on both sides of the court. And he has played point for Indy before... so he really could be our 3rd string PG.

I dont remember if he has injury concerns or not. That would be the one thing I'd be worried about.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

There is nothing linking Stephenson to the Knicks, as in, no interest by either party. If we were to sign him, you are basically saying to all the guys we signed on partially guaranteed contracts that they have no shot at making the team. If there was a way to open a roster spot, I would sign him, but Sasha or O'Quin would have to go. I would value Stephenson on a 1yr vet min contract over either of those players

Knicks have a bunch of non guaranteed contracts. He could sign another one. Guys would have to compete to stay. That could be a positive

Can't see Jackson wanting him, and I wonder how he would do back in NYC where "friends" would come out of the woodwork.

He had a perfect situation in Indiana- a team which seemed to groom him the right way, a GM who offered him a competitive contract, and a city with fewer temptations, and since he's left Indiana his value has decreased to the point where nobody really wants him.

I think this "interest" in him is telling...and its telling me that he's not worth it.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Just say No. The thing this team needs (3 point shooting) is something that he is not good at. We already have so so 3 point shooters in Rose and Jennings. We don't need another non-shooting guard. Plus, the guy is a headcase that will only add drama to the team. I like Holiday, CHandler, and Baker. I think we are set and Stevenson is not going to help enough to overcome the potential negatives.

This team already has adequate 3 point shooting. They also have a rotation that look to be set already. You can make the argument that Stevenson might disrupt that balance trying to incorporate him into the rotation. That i get

Nothing against Stevenson, but seemingly nobody wants him.
Its August and is he even aligned or rumored to be anywhere?
Even Brooklyn Nets not interested? Sean Marks is rebuilding and perhaps he is doing it with a longer term and only taking guys with a certain skill and character type?
Lance Stevenson for the minimum?
