Remember several weeks ago....this board was filled with folks running Phil outta town because we thought Rambis was going to take helm.....

Remember Phils vacation during coaching search....folks was saying he was collecting Dolans checks and wasn't engaged...

Several weeks later....look at where we are...

Phil plays it close to the vest....Almost every move came out of the blue...meaning media was not talking about it for months on end ....ala Greg Monroe last year....

I am not saying Phil is a genius he has been learning on the job...but he did his thing this year.....

Yes he took some risks....but not a risk like giving E. Turner $70 mill....or Biyambo $70....Deng...$70....hey another mans trash is another's treasure....

I hear folks on Sirius xm NBA shows killing the Knicks....too risky...Noah is shot...Rose is 50% of what he was...so forth and so on.....predicting 40 wins and battling for the 8th seed....

We'll see.....I have a good feeling about this season..

However,

When you start to hear these talking heads say the know Phils movements.....

Remember how Phil "The Jedi" Jackson....mind tricked you this summer.

Phil has been the complete opposite of the disses and jokes of the media. He's been very sensible in his moves. He took more risk this summer but it was a calculated risk. He's spent reasonably and kept flexibility for last summer, this summer and next summer!!! When have we had a GM that did that for 3 consecutive seasons?

This team was basically .500 before Melo and LT went down, which IMO was the largest reason for the team's downfall, tho AA falling off and KP hitting a wall was also part of it along with the coaching situation, but still the team was playing well at one point. This team has WAY better talent than last year's team. All people talk about is that Rose and Noah are diminished which may or may not be a permanent situation. It's entirely possible that both players will be a bit better next season. The don't have to be DPOY and MVP level in order to help this team win.

This team isn't solely reliant on Rose and Noah being the best players on the team. We already have Melo and KP. We need this team to collectively play a better brand of ball and I believe they will. They have the right mix of talent for how Hornacek wants the team to play. They have enough depth to allow for JH to give adequate rest to his older players who will need it.

I think the games should be played and wins piled before exhausting platitudes that may be regretted. Team has several questions that need to be answered. The reality is that Jackson still couldnt attract that top fa talent that pairs with Melo and KP to make us a true contender. KD would have been that, Westbrook could be that . Until we get that player, Ill hold off praising the 'win more now' changes that were directed

now Phil needs to pull off the greatest jedi mind trick: keep the wheels from falling off Rose & Noah, and get this completely turned over roster to play together as a unit.

This not a finished product...but from where we are sitting this summer compared to last summer....I just like the view....things can end up bad...but we have or pick and cap space...

Also quite frankly yes Phil was paid to throw his rings on the table.....but who was coming when the team was winning less than 30 games....if we were battling Bron in the conference finals 2 out of the 3 years with KP and Melo providing the fire power...Phil may have gotten somebody....

We got Rose on a rental that doesn't eat up future cap, Jennings dirt cheap, Lance a steal, Lee on a solid deal as well(I think he could've got more). The Noah Deal is iffy to me and I still think we gave up too much on the Rose trade but overall Phil has been making solid moves from day 1 in my opinion. (Not just this year). He can't magically make Durant decide to come here and fans and media will complain until we land a superstar or prove something in the season. It's a cutthroat business.

I think we have a real shot at Westbrook next summer if things go right with Noah and Porzingis.
