Melo is a free agent in 2018...

Giannis is a restricted free agent in 2017. What if he accepts a one year deal to become an unrestricted free agent in 2018?

This is the guy I want on the Knicks most of all.

He played PG for long stretches last season. Imagine him at G and KP as a PF/C. Crazy length in that lineup.

Would have to be for his QO... teams don't offer one-year big dollar deals to RFAs so they can leave them the next year.

Bucks will offer max ext or QO.

Guy like him taking the QO would be highly unusual.

IF he's an unrestricted Free Agent - I absolutely agree.

He and KP would be offensively unique 7-footers who would be REALLY hard to guard and defensive terrors.

I was thinking the exact same thing a few days ago. Good call. Giannis/KP would be a great young frontcourt tandem to move forward with. I say we get brother Thanasis in here right now--we have several open spots including one at his position (3rd unit wing), he'd come cheap, he's put in the work with this organization and deserves a bone, plus I'm convinced he's more skilled than anyone realizes on both ends (late bloomer that's continuing to bloom). Would love to have him as a guy we could throw on a LeBron, a Paul George etc. from time to time. If we secured Thanasis, you'd think it could give us that much of a better shot to land Giannis. Just reading that the Bucks may look to sign Giannis to an extension coming up, though.

totally agree

KP and Giannes would be a LEGIT future COMBO with versatility on both OFF and DEF

Giannes is a combination of Lebron James, Magic Johnson, and Durant's length/height/versatility with more strength/versatility/length size etc
He is a LEGIT PG and can DEFEND ALL 5 positions

Do not see him not signing a MAX extention as it affects his future raises, just hoping it is not a 5year with no player option

Probably the best chance is that it is a 4year deal,
I am hoping that The Bucks offer him a 4year deal with a player option after 3rd (at his demand of course)
So sometime after CA's contract ends with the rest of our acquisitions this summer is more likely, 2020 or after...

Using Thanasis as bait and I do believe that Thanasis can develop just as Trevor Ariza had developed into a solid player once he got confidence in his 3pt shot

During his draft he was project to go in the mid 1st round
And I was fascinated by him right away, using BRIGGS analogy that in 1 or 2 years he would be the #1 draft with no questions asked
With his age, he can still grow, has huge hands/wingspan *qualities that Kawaii/The Doctor and MANY GOATS/TOP TIER's have, to go with a Durant like body but has the ability to still grow more, with a YOUNG LEBRONS and Magic Johnson type of talent/versatility/skills/DEFENSE

On the draft, I was hoping we would use our assets in which we used to obtain AB to move up to acquire him *as we needed a versatile talent to pair with CA on both OFF and DEF and he has that type of skills/potential*

We drafted at 23 and Mason Plumlee was right before was while we drafted Tim Hardway JR which lead to Jerian Grant and now Derrick Rose
While Rudy Gobert was still on board and was the HIGHEST ceiling player that we let go

Briggs wanted players

such as

Kelly Olynk
Nate Walters
Eric Green
Mike Muscula

Above were all players that Briggs would have traded CA for, along with the entire team, after going back and forth about how CA should and should not be part of the NYK's future and making posts saying it was 100% certain and flip flopping again each time...

Believe that Olynk's was the next Dirk
Nate Walters the next Nash,
Eric Green the next Derrick Rose/Brandon Roy
Mike Muscula was labeled as 5 but Briggs said he was a 4 that was very skilled and could be similar to Tiaggo Splitter
Briggs was very upset we didnt draft Muscula and when Gobert started to put up numbers he started to question ALL the draft picks and why we did not draft Gobert
When Muscula put decent numbers he did the same thing

To Brigss credit though,
Victor Oladipo was project to go LATE in the draft and moved all the way up, with Briggs saying he was the #1 pick as he climbed up from the NCAA mid season, March Madness, and then to draft night

My point is this is Briggs Tendency is to try to find a SLEEPER and then draft him 20 spots earlier, saying it is a clear cut choice, and if it works out,
SEE I TOLD YOU SO, I KNEW IT....

Never ONCE did he make a POST about Giannes who I kept pushing for and even asked him, which he thought he had a lot of potential
So the ALL STAR and TOP TIER TALENT was right there but Briggs likes to find the Dark Horse that pays out 1000x to 1 instead

He likes SIZE and likes to use measurements/height to his advantage to make the player sound better
Dismissing speed/quickness, inability to defend the position, etc

That we can all name the one pretty such makes the point. I don't think Detroit ever made him a max offer either, right?

Never said it was impossible, just very unlikely, as history demonstrates

Would love to add him but he stated that he is a Buck for life or something to that nature. Seems like he will at least re-up the first go around.

The leverage would be to have his brother Thanasis signed to the roster.

I think Giannis would be a great guy to target. I know Durant just left but usually stars of that calibur do not leave. I think Giannis is at the very tippy top of the second tier and I think if we showed him the love the first second of FA he might be interested.

Stars of Durant's caliber leave, they just leave after their first rookie max extension.

Almost nobody of that caliber takes the restricted free agency qualifying offer. And if they are of that caliber, teams will match any restricted offer sheet.

Antetokounmpo will have to play for 1 year and $4.2m when the Bucks will offer him a guaranteed $100-120m.

He'd have to want out of Milwaukee BAD to turn that down. And there is no indication he does.

It never happens. Greg Monroe played for the QO. Maybe Tristan Thompson also? Just forget about RFAs. The only ones feasible are the ones you have to grossly overpay like Jeremy Lin.

wasnt he just signed to a new extension last week?
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better
Giannis should be the real target
