i guess with delphino coming in next year, dumars felt corliss was expendable. so he got a player with 1 less year on his deal and extra insurance for his bigmen.

personally, dc will add nothing to that team and they just made the move to clear space and time for delphino.

Yesterday the Detroit Pistons pulled a shrewd move by acquiring Derrick Coleman and Amal McCaskill from the 76ers for forward Corliss Williamson. This was mostly a cap-related move for Detroit as the Pistons dumped Big Nasty’s 3-year, $18 million guaranteed deal in favor of D.C.’s 2-year, $9.5 million contract. This will give them more wiggle room to work with in the free agent market one year earlier, however, if they release Coleman after this season, they would only owe him $2 million for his troubles and be players again in next year’s summer session. Williamson’s departure will also free more playing time for European import Carlos Delfino, a player that we figure to have a Manu Ginobili-like impact.
