Please correct me if im wrong.

The Knicks actually could have as much as 8 million if they renounce all their free agent players. 4 million if they renounce everyone except Galloway and Lance. The max we can offer Derrick Williams, Lance and Galloway is 6 mill per year (early bird rights). You can count on Derrick Williams being renounced. Lance wants to stay and the staff/team loves him. Galloway is a guy they would like to keep but not at 6 million. The Knicks can ignore them unless they sign an offer sheet somewhere. We can go over the cap to sign them so hopefully they wait till after we sign someone with that 4 mill we have left. If they don't the Knicks would have 8 mill to spend

At the end of the free agent frenzy, there will be plenty of vets lining up to get the minimun. We'd also have the 2 million room exemption. There's also a possibility of trading O'Quinn away for Cap space (4 mill). That would bump the total cap available to fall between 4 mill and 12 mill.

Hornacek and Phil are more concerned with getting an adequate back up point guard so this could get interesting. You want to carry over some players but it's a business. Can't expect guys to give you a hometown discount. Once teams run out of money the Knicks would be back in business.

Current roster:

1. Rose
2. C.Lee
3. Melo
4. KP
5. Noah

Justin Holiday
Hernangomez (minimum salary)
Room exemption player (2 mil)
Lance (early bird, 6 mil)
Back up pg (8 mil assuming we dump O'Quinn)
Ron Baker (minimum salary)
4 minimum salary slots

Is Hernagomez a sure thing? I read he was entertaining other euro offers.

I think you need to set aside a certain amount for min slots which eats in to the amount we might have available.

Honest we need to retain as many of our guys from last.

Read the same thing. Looks like the dude's trying to play hardball...I wonder what KP thinks of this? Hornacek said he's coming over so hopefully we find a way to add him but the 'entertaining Euro offers' thing is giving me some doubts now too.

Good links. Seems like everyone either missed it or don't care.

This is actually very important info
