YUP! This pretty much sounds like a done deal. It really didn't take much guess work given the ties to the city and Rose. Noah and NYK makes too much sense.

im down with that. where's nixluva?!!

i want you to WITNESS my happiness with acquiring Jo Noah. Im not just a negative person - i can be happy sometimes. lol

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

These two tweets are hilarious to me, because Amick clearly posted the first and then got an angry text from Noah's agent like "don't blow up this knicks deal, you jerk" and then he posted the second.

If it's a long term deal starting at $18 million/year, it's a disaster. If it's a short term one, I'm not sure what the point is. We aren't close to competing for a title - all these moves are short term...

Noah at 18 million seems high for me, but it is market value. Teams will not be getting Centers cheap. Im curious as to the length of the deal. Would feel much better if it is a 3 year deal.

Core would be:
Noah
Porzingis
Anthony
Rose

Defenitely more skill and ability that Lopez/Porzingis/Anthony/Calderon, but can they stay healthy? Defensively Rose and Noah have proven they are one of the best at defending screen rolls. Clearly this was an objective for the Knicks. Get better in moving defensively and being able to run the floor quicker in transition. As a post sprinter, Noah is much better than Lopez. The only area Lopez is better than Noah is post ups. The rest is either same or Noah is better. I believe a key part of Noahs game that they want over Lopez is the passing skill. Noah has had seasons where he averaged over 5 asssists a game. Really good at setting a pick or coming up into the high post and facilitating. Last year our high man with assists was Melo at 4. If Noah signs, we have two guys here able to help Melo there.

In terms of next year, really could use 1-2 stand out 3 point shooters at the wings. Maybe where rest of the money goes.

Rest assure skill wise Noah is outstanding for a 4th best player, supportimg Center. Thompson of the Cavs makes similar money and is a lesser talent. What Im worried about if we sign Noah is how healthy he will be over his 3-4 year deal. I can not see this being a 1 year deal. Too many teams competing for Noah.

With the idea of attracting premier FAs, locking up Noah immediately helps that immensely. A Durant this year, or perhaps a Westbrook next year could legitimately look at Melo, KP, Rose, Noah as a potentially Conf finals team and feel that they (KD or Westbrook) could be the final piece of the puzzle. Likely not KD this summer, but if the Knicks have a decent season and reach the 2nd round and are competitive, you could see a top FA be willing to jump to the Knicks next summer for a (not pure fantasy) potential championship run.

Not saying it would be true, but players could see that roster core and think like that given the different bases that each player covers, the history/rep that those 4 players have, and the complementary skillset across the board as a core group.

This is what I wanted so i'm happy and I don't really care much about the reported contract of $18 mil. We have to wait and see what the exact number will be but in that range is fine. I doubt Phil would sign him to a long deal. He hasn't done that for the most part. I think people are underestimating how good Noah actually is in terms of being a Vocal Leader and a Glue Guy. He's the perfect guy to mentor all the young players as well. Like Rose, Noah already knows the Triangle and is an excellent passer. People really need to stop looking at the numbers and pay attention to the fit for how this team wants to play.

18 seems kinda steep, but the market is what the market is. I'm sure there are teams out there who would offer him more than that. I really hope it's a 3 year deal, too, and not more. if he really wants to reunite with Rose and play in his hometown, maybe Phil can convince him to take a bit less to fill out rest of roster and improve. Looks like Noah will be a knick.

BTW, add a healthy Rose and Noah on our team last year and subtract Calderon and Lopez with the same roster and we easily make playoffs and possibly win a round or two.

Absolutely agree. No more than 3 years. He's coming off a season-low # of games played and a shoulder injury that required surgery. He'll be 34 in 3 years. We do NOT need a 4+ year contract on the books for what Joakim offers at this stage in his career..

Man I love Noah. I never thought I could root for the Bulls but the year Rose was out and Noah played through plantar fascia I wanted those guys to go all the way. Noah brings so many intangibles to a team. Rolo is a huge loss but Noah fills that void and then some.

It's a rumor, so we don't know for sure what the actual number is. In the end it really isn't as bad as people think. Noah is a great fit for this team and IMO worth the money. You get more than just his play on the court but also a vocal leader, which this team needs. He can mentor the young players as well. So he's worth the money.

We're in agreement. I don't think some fans realize what Noah brings to the table. He's had a very long layoff having only played 29 games and I think that will rejuvenate him going forward. His Vocal Leadership and mentoring of KP, Willy etc could be huge. Also people forget that he is an excellent Triangle big. Noah's passing will be huge for this team.
