and also give credit to what many on here spoke about. The FA class of pgs were poor. Getting Rose via trade, has now shifted that concern to getting a replacement big where there are more and better options
And not sucking up to nix but he was exactly right. This is what buying low and selling high look like. RObin's value increased and Rose's perceived value was low -- i.e., if Bulls still thought he was MVP material or perennial all star there's no way they would trade him
None of this means things will work out perfectly; nor does it mean that there was perfect exchange of value (I still think we paid too much but...). It just means this is what it looks like. When you sell high it should hurt a little -- you're selling a stock that has performed well for you (and might continue to perform well). When you buy low, you're buying something a lot of other people dumped (and which might still under-perform)
This is exactly what's needed when there's a salary cap. You need to accumulate more/better talent for essentially the same money as the next team (we actually operate at a handicap because of taxes but...)
