Hey Everyone,

The knicks have cap space and players that can attract free agents...I keep hearing that we are not going to offer a max contract to anyone not named Durant.

But the feeling is also that everyone else is fair game at a "reasonable contract".

What are the reasonable figures for the available assets, average annual and number of years and if applicable options:
Joakim Noah:
Dwight Howard:
Jeremy lin:
Al Horford:
Rajon Rondo
DeMar DeRozan
Mike Conley
chandler Parsons
Roy Hibbert
Al Jefferson
Brandon Jennings
Jeff Green
Ryan Anderson
Jamal Crawford
Courtney Lee
Deron Williams

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

Jeremy lin: 6 x 3
Al Horford: 20 x 4
Rajon Rondo: 10-12 x 3
DeMar DeRozan: 24 x 4 (though I have serious reservations)
Mike Conley: 18 x 4
chandler Parsons: Enough of chandlers
Roy Hibbert: pass
Al Jefferson: pass
Brandon Jennings: 7 x 3
Jeff Green: don't know
Ryan Anderson: how healthy is he?
Jamal Crawford: 7 x 3
Courtney Lee: not sure
Deron Williams: pass

so here is what phil is thinking ....

You may be underestimating the demand with the cap going up as much as it did. Your numbers look "reasonable" but there are 30 teams with cash to burn competing for these guys.

Ah. See, I agree with Mr Einman, here. The question is not what they are going to get paid, it was what the reasonable salary would be. So, guys like Conley, Horford, Derozan and likely Howard will find max contracts. Probably not from us. But these prices are reasonable and I wouldn't argue if I found this roster charges on our payroll.

You know I gonna spin wit it

I hope some idiot GM'S toss out a max contract to Conley or Howard. Everyone will talk about how the cap's going up and they'll look "reasonable" in a year. Then the cap will level off at 110 million, and you'll be paying an injury risk has-been 1/5 or more of your cap to be a fringe All-Star for 65 games a year.

These numbers are all pretty much lower than they'll actually get and some are way off.

My bad i just noticed that you were just saying what you think they should get and not what they will get and i think your predictions look better knowing that.

The league is in serious trouble.

This rising cap is going to allow teams to make some very bad decisions.

When guys like Chandler Parsons, Ryan Anderson, Harrison Barnes are all in the running for the max it's sets a terrible precedent. Tristan Thompson made 16MM a year to and he doesn't even pull down 10rbs a game. Since when does 7.6pts and 9rbs make you a 16MM a year players.

Danny Green 10MM, Shumpert 10MM Carroll 15MM.

We need to be smart and grab a Jared Dudley, type at a couple of different positions and lock them in to KQ type deals. Every contract handed out is going to look like an Allan Houston signing.

well you can complain about the price of apples, you can say the whole orchard is in trouble, you can talk about how great your little apple tree in the yard is or you can accept reality, that the price of apples simply aint what it used to be a couple years ago.

The salaries are in line with the cap. Players are paid based on the market. If you watched Tristan Thompson in the finals he was the guy that took Cle over the edge past GS. TT was the guy they had no answer for.

Cap is about to be $100mm. That means good role players will be getting $8mm. The middle tier guys will be getting $15mm. The just below all stars will be getting $20mm. All stars will be getting $30mm plus. This is how it goes.

Yeah, the cap went up because the NBA is doing great on TV right now and got a huge TV deal.

The cap is still 50% of the league revenue.

The problem is going to be that with this two year climb to the cap, about half the league is still going to be stuck on old scale contracts and there will be some inequity between players based on when they signed. But that will work itself out over the span of a few years. Though when your career is 6-10 yrs long... being wildly underpaid for 2-3 years is a pretty big deal...
