Last time we saw Olympic Melo, after playing in the 2012 Summer Olympics, he came into camp on fire, led the league in scoring and the Knicks won 54 games.

After the 2008 Olympics, Melo got the Nuggets to the Western Conference Finals in the 2008-9 and lost to the eventual champion Lakers in 6.

Welcome back, Olympic Melo.

Hoping this leads to another big season.

I'll be happy if Melo does what he did last Olympics which is spend most of his time beyond the arc. Save those knees for next season.

I think that gets his deep ball form and conditioning in great shape. He was locked in after the last Olympics and we need that for this coming season.

good post crzy... there definitely seemed to be a real positive effect on melo last time around. he was 6th man of that 2012 olympic team, i think it kind of humbled him to be playing with all those guys. who knows, maybe im wrong. hopefully the effect is the same this time around and hopefully him spending the summer with durant is a positive for this franchise, too. if nothing else, this should bring melo into camp with a winning (you would think gold medal), focused mind-set.

Anyone else scratching their head at the USA roster? Just a strange mix of players that I wouldn't expect to be on it. Granted a bunch of players opted out...but I can see there being some closer games this year.

Kyrie Irving - Yes
Harrison Barnes - No
Kevin Durant - Yes
DeMarcus Cousins - No
Draymond Green- Yes
Klay Thompson- Yes
Paul George - Yes
Kyle Lowry - Maybe
DeMar DeRozan - Maybe
Carmelo Anthony - Maybe
Jimmy Butler - Yes
DeAndre Jordan - No

A lot of guys opted out. Team USA should win this... but I think it will be closer than 2012 for sure. I bet Kyrie is still on a high from his Finals performance.

Yup, set an Olympic record.

Anthony, forward coming off of the bench in place of Kevin Durant and Lebron James, led Team USA in scoring as he managed to make a U.S. Olympic basketball history record by scoring 37 points in 14 minutes. The team ended up routing Nigeria in an 83-point blowout Thursday night, beating the 1992 Olympic Dream Team's record of a 68-point lead in a victory against Angola.
