After a pick-less draft for us and a roster in need of warm bodies, the attention surely moves towards the Summer League roster. Can we get good talent that may make it to the main roster?

So far, this is what we know:

The Free Agents:

The Undrafted Rookies:

The Stashed Mystery:

http://nypost.com/2016/06/24/knicks-start-wooing-undrafteds-after-failing-to-buy-pick/

After playing modestly for the summer-league team last season, Labeyrie will return to play for the Knicks in Orlando and try to make an impression.

The Home Team:

[Are any of our young players like free agent Cleanthony Early still playing for us?]

Yup. Him and Willy can be considered as our 2 picks this year.

I read that he really picked up his development, adding a 3pt shot and some drive ability. He's already a nasty player. I'm intrigued

Labeyrie? That would definitely be impressive and would be a nice turn of events for this pick. Because he started looking like an energy guy with good defense and rebounding, but not much more than that.

He has to assert himself, especially on offense...he rarely did it last year, and he is 24, now.

I would like to see him with his old hair, too:

Kenny Garner is a college student and writer for our St. John's blog, Rumble In The Garden. He's traveling abroad this semester, and he had a chance to sit down with French big man Louis Labeyrie, whose draft rights are owned by the Knicks. Check it out! - Seth

KG: Describe your experience getting drafted by the Knicks.

Louis Labeyrie: It was the most beautiful experience I have ever lived in my life. I met the Knicks organization and went to Madison Square Garden and the campus in Westchester. It was fabulous. It is an elite way of life.

KG: Did you have an opportunity to sit down with Phil Jackson when you were drafted? What was that experience like for you meeting a legend?

Labeyrie: Yeah I met he and Steve Mills. When I met Phil Jackson first I was surprised, even when they drafted me. It was exciting to hear his voice and meet him. He told me great stuff and what I need to work on. He said the NBA game is very different from Europe. Mentally be ready to sometimes play and sometimes sit out.

KG: Are you in touch with the Knicks? Do you plan to play in the Summer League?

Labeyrie: This summer I might do both Summer Leagues because as you know they might do two teams, one in Orlando and one in Las Vegas*. I plan to get back at it.

*I have heard the same. - Seth

KG: Your three point shot looks like it has improved a lot. Is that something you really have been working on?

Labeyrie: That was something I didn't have a few years ago. The last three years I have been working on it and coaches want me to shoot those types of shots. I am shooting with a lot of confidence right now."

KG: Is there one aspect of your games that you are focused on improved right now?

Labeyrie: I am working on driving to the basket more and I am working on improving my basketball IQ. In Europe you need a high basketball IQ.

KG: I have heard a lot of comparisons of your game to Ronny Turiaf. What do you think about those comparisons?

Labeyrie: You are not the only one saying that. You know it is funny because last summer when I went to New York, I met him in the airport. I told him to enjoy his New York trip and that he was the best."

KG:Is there one player that plays in the NBA right now that you really look up to or try to model your game after?

Labeyrie: There are a couple of guys. Kevin Garnett is one. On the Knicks I look at Carmelo the way he scores and Porzingis, the way he stretches the floor.

KG: Do you plan to play for the French national team and help them qualify for the Olympics?

Labeyrie: "I would be glad to play for the national team if they invite me. For every guy in this country it is a huge pride to be apart of the team. If they invite me even for the twenty player roster, I will be there."

New addition:

Knicks News: Marshall Plumlee Signed To Guaranteed Deal
by Kenneth Teape

New York Knicks news has been rampant throughout the week as they have made multiple additions to the roster. The biggest one was the acquisition of Derrick Rose in a trade with the Chicago Bulls, also netting Justin Holiday. They also added some players from the 2016 NBA Draft class.

Despite not owning a pick in the draft, the Knicks didn’t waste time afterwards signing undrafted free agents. Minutes after the draft concluded, the Knicks signed Ron Baker, formally of Wichita State, to a partially guaranteed one-year deal. He is not the only undrafted free agent the Knicks have signed, as they have also signed Marshall Plumlee.

The former Duke Blue Devil agreed to a guarnateed, undrafted free agent deal with the Knicks according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

There were some people that believed Plumlee could sneak into the second round of last night’s draft, but instead he slipped out of the draft altogether and became a free agent. It is a solid addition for the Knicks, who are looking for bodies in their front court after trading away Robin Lopez in the Rose trade.

Plumlee’s stats from Duke won’t wow you, as he averaged only 8.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists per game with 2.8 fouls. It was the first time that Plumlee received extended playing time in his college career, and while his stats aren’t great he was an integral part of Duke’s success last season.

He was the only true big man that they had last season after Amile Jefferson went down with an injury, as he anchored the team in the middle. While he is very raw offensively, he can hang his hat on his motor and athleticism, which enables him to excel defensively.

Plumlee is a strong rebounder and shot blocker, who is long and athletic standing 6-feet-11 inches tall, weighing 211 pounds. He knows his role on the court, as he will not try doing too much and is the quintessential role player as he will do the dirty work on the inside.

The Knicks must have seen something that they liked, as they gave him a guaranteed contract despite going undrafted. He is an older player at 24 years old, but you know what you are getting from him.

Plumlee was a leader for Duke, bringing along with him a strong work ethic. He is part of the Army reserves, and may miss some time because of his military service, which speaks to his character, but it won’t impact his NBA future.

This is a solid addition to the back end of the Knicks roster, as their big men rotation will look drastically different this season with Plumlee and Willy Hernangomez coming into the fold to replace Lopez.

The good thing about the SL is you can look into other players from other teams as long as they are not signed

I doubt he's much of anything. Most of the picks from Gaines have not panned out well

Is KP playing? I really hope so just to make make the games more entertaining. Hopefully Willy comes over to join the SL team as well.

Willy is playing for Spain, so he won't be coming.

No reports on Porzingis and Summer League, but I doubt it.

Dajuan Summers, aka the DL old style Melo-lite (that's old chucking Melo, not the Melo we saw and loved last year), will be on our SL team again.

Coming of an Achilles injury...should be interesting to see where he is at.

Not the greatest outside shooter, it would seem. Has played for many years in France.

Not sure if Phil and friends thinks he has a chance to make the roster, or even get invited to training camp.

I hope KP doesn't play. What's the point. There is no one of NBA caliber on the Knicks roster...

Looks like we stole Booker from the Suns.
