Current depth chart:

PG Rose
SG Holiday, Galloway
SF Melo
PF KP
C KOQ, Willy

Galloway as a $2.5mm QO, so if we don't extend him assume he's back for that for one year.
It seems a forgone conclusion that Willy joins.

Phil said they expect to resign Lance... whats that going to cost?

When you factor in Willy/Langston that puts us around $31mm in cap space, give or take.

Phil/Jeff said they will get Rose a capable backup. Whats that going to cost?

We can go over the cap to Re-sign Lance and Langston up to $6M per year for each guy. So not worried about keeping those two.

I would offer a one and one deal to Jerryd Bayless at back up PG at around $8-$10m

I would try to sign Joakim Noah at around 2yr/$20m

I would try to sign Evan Turner to be starting SG and play some point.

I would like to bring back DWill, but there may not be money to do it.

DRose / Bayless
Turner / Galloway
Melo / Holiday / Bennett
KP / Lance
Noah / Hernangomez / KOQ

There were some real solid PG prospects at the end of this draft. I can't believe we didn't get aggressive and look to grab one. Meanwhile, the Cavs went out and paid $2.4mm for pick 54 and grabbed Kay Felder. Man, does that make us look cheap and bad. Can't express that enough. I really wanted Cat Barber -- I thought there was a good chance that kid would've gotten picked in the 1st round/most definitely early 2nd round. He was there all the way through and we didn't even offer him a SL contract. Same with Gary Payton II. Baffling. Absolutely baffling.. We have no depth behind Derrick Rose, a guy who's had MAJOR injury concerns. I mean ****--I wanted one of these guys back when we at least had depth with Jose, Grant and Wroten...I mean all indications were Phil was planning to buy into this 2nd round. For who?!? Who did he want?? With all the reaches made, all of the more well-known guys were all there late in this draft right where I hoped they'd be. Then we lay a big fat egg and do nothing. Pisses me off. I wasn't asking for the moon here, wasn't asking for a first round pick, wasn't asking for multiple picks. Neither was ever realistic if you ask me, esp. after dealing away Grant.. All I wanted was one of these PG prospects projected to go late. They were all available. We WHIFFED HARDCORE on this!!

Willy could be signed with the Room exception...so the Knicks with Langston's qualifying offer still have about 35M to play with.

I agree with all of this... but look at the Knicks up to the draft. They worked out so many guys and planned on being involved. What happened? My take is the only thing that keeps the Knicks from spending would be other deals. What do they have in the works? Doesn't make sense that they would do that much DD unless a) what they are planning hasn't happened yet or b) they need that money for someone/something else or c) they just didn't think the guys available were worth it.

Puzzled also... lets see whats next.

raptors worked out 60 players. why? b/c they also are recruiting for their d-league team to sign undrafted players and develop them there. alot of players weren't drafted. no point paying $2+ mil for a 2nd round pick if the players you are interested in don't get drafted at all.

Yup. The Knicks have been active in purchasing 2nd rounders in the previous years. I just think that the players they are interested in were not getting drafted and why would you spend money when you don't have to.

This draft was pretty week..why on earth would you pay millions for a 2nd rounder. Come next Friday we'll see how savvy Phil and his staff really are, and how serious they are about winning now

I just posted this in another thread that the Thunder, Nets and Mavs all want L.Thomas which really sucks cause he's the guy i've been wanting us to re-sign most but i can see his price tag getting way out of hand especially from the Nets.

Holy crap you should calm down some. It was a weak draft and most of these kids that went 2nd round will never be much of anything in the NBA and most will never even be on a NBA team. If Phil and his team thought there was someone that was worth them trading/buying a pick then they would have done it if they could have. Phil will fill out this roster but i'm sure his main focus will be on getting the next big name for the starting unit and filling out the starting unit so he knows just how much money they'll have to fill out the bench. I'm not worried at all at this point and think Phil will have us a good team to play with next season.

Ron Baker is a decent place to begin speculating.
