Said this in the other thread, but -

That rumor has been around for a while. Bill Simmons had Butler on his podcast last week and the subtext seemed to be Simmons endorsing a trade of Butler to the Celtics...

And a lot of the Bulls fans seemed in favor of a full blow up and rebuild after the Rose trade...

though I have to say, all that makes their taking on of Robin Lopez and the three years on his deal all the more perplexing.

Yeah...saw what you said in that thread, and had not heard about it.

Is this draft good enough to trade away a young star like Butler?

Yeah, I'm not sure about that... that's a good question. It's funny that Butler went 30th overall and now can be traded for a top 3 pick. The draft is a weird science.

For whatever its worth, at least I feel we have a plan

Boston is desperate for more star power. Isaih Thomas is nice, but he's not getting you deep in playoffs. Butler is super but not a guy who can put a team on his back either. He is excellent but not elite. The fact that Boston is chasing more guards is very, very odd.

Likewise Chicago allowing a rumor like this to leak is weird. Plays with Butler's head

Butler has 4 years on his contract...a 5/$95M deal, which will look pretty good the next few years, and he is in his prime-turns 27 in January.

Wonder what the Celtics would give up to get him in terms of picks.

Forget star power...I think they feel he could make them an elite team.

Hell 5yr at $95M looks GREAT right now. That's a solid deal.

I agree -

Isaiah Thomas
Jimmy Butler
Marcus Smart / Avery Bradley
Jae Crowder / Jonas Jerebko
Amir Johnson / Kelly Olenyk

plus a bunch of picks...

If I were the Celts I would take Butler over Noel in a HEARTBEAT... I guess we'll know in a few seconds...

Butlers style of play fits well with boston... they do this trade and sign Whiteside if they can. That's bigstme.... they don't need all these picks

Is the pick in the rose trade the bulls next year? If so it will be a really good pick if butler is moved. Probably a really good pick anyway.

Yeah, we get the Bulls 2017 second round pick. If they blow it up, it could be low 30s.

They aren't close to that. They are a classic case of a team that will do well during the season but as soon as they're in the playoffs and you get a chance to scheme particularly for them they'll lose

Last year, smart teams (eg Indy) packed it in the paint and dared them to beat them from outside. Was very effective.

They have a lot of nice pieces and play hard. Easy to root for and they can beat a good team that doesn't take them seriously but IMO they're miles away from elite
