Spanish center Willy Hernangomez plans to join the New York Knicks on a multiyear contract this summer, his agent, Andy Miller, told The Vertical.
The Knicks hold the rights to Hernangomez, who was the 35th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. Hernangomez, 22, has developed into one of Europe’s best young big men, a prospect whose rights the Knicks pushed to acquire in a draft-night deal a year ago. Hernangomez was a teammate of Knicks star Kristaps Porzinigis – who shares the same agent – in Sevilla, Spain, in the 2014-15 season Hernangomez played for Spanish ACB League power Real Madrid in 2015-16.
