What an opportunity for Phil to pick up Lamb who offers some upside as a young SG on a rookie contract and get the 22nd pick just to take on the contract. We can do that with our cap space right? Would seem like a no-brainer to get a rotation player and first round pick for free.

Lamb just signed an extension last year but I would still do the deal.

i wouldnt mind that
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

You are right. So 7 mil a year for a guy who can potentially start at SG is a fair price to pay. Still leaves us with max cap space and a 1st round pick.

I'd take Lamb and the pick for that much of our cap, leaves us room to sign a guy like Noah for depth in the front court. Retain Gallo/Thomas and get DWill to re-sign maybe? Save the rest of cap for next year.

Rose/Gallo
Gallo/Lamb
DWill/Lance
Lance/Melo/KP
KP/Noah/KOQ

Would be a decent squad.

I would take Lamb - he reminds me a bit of Gerald Green, who had a lot of success for Horny.

What's available with pick 22? Can we get a PG back up somehow?

Lamb signed for 3 yrs $21M in Charlotte... that's kinda high... but not really in the new cap.

Agreed, starting 5 would be Noah, KP, Melo, Lamb, and Rose.

That's not a bad look for the Knicks. Still would 28 million in cap space (minus the rookie contract). They could get back to 30 mil if they let go of some player rights.

Lamb seemed to have a good stretch last year, especially the 1st half of the year. Got hurt and never seemed to have the same impact. Hardly played at all in the playoffs.

Limited range on his shot.

Why do the Hornets want to get rid of him? Is there a numbers game going on there, or does it have something to do with his playing?

Hawes has a lot of limitations as a player...does he provide anything more than a 3pt shot at this point in his career?

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Unless we sign a huge difference maker in FA this team isn't going far anyway. If Durant says he'll come on a 2 year deal with the 2nd being his option then you get every piece you can to go all-in this year. Otherwise sign smart short term deals and hope the team is competitive enough to get guys like KP some meaningful minutes in an effort to mature more. The real prizes are next summer.

I don't want to have another losing season as much as the next guy but let's be realistic...even if we somehow made it out of the first round we aren't going further than that no matter who we sign (unless it's KD) so we should be smart with our $$.

IMore actually a fan of Hawes. I don't really understand why he's not getting playing time anymore. I thought he played well in Philly aND Sacramento... he's only 28

Can he play defense is the question? With Melo and Rose both playing decent defense we need to make sure whoever our new SG and C will be need to be good if not great defenders. I have a feeling that J.Noah will be who we target most for the center spot but really hoping for A.Horford so we really need our SG to be a really good defender so he play the opposite teams best guard. Could we afford J.Noah and N.Batum?? I think we can or we should get K.Bazemore and i also think we should go after J.Crawford to be our 6th man, he's not a good defender but he can play both guard spots and brings instant offense off the bench. How is A.Crabbe on defense??

I think youre getting a serviceable stretch 5 for a 22 pick. Hed be easy to flip next year
