At some point --the math counts.

I can understand the ideology behind the Rose deal.

Joakim Noah--whole different ball of wax. At BEST Joakim Noah is a third string C. His numbers didnt just take a hit--they fell off the charts. IMHO their will be ROOKIE 2nd rd C who are SUPERIOR to Noah and I dont care how much savvy he has. When you are 7 feet tall and your FG% has dropped from 50% to 38% you are the 15th man or the assistant coach. They were only 14-15 with him in his 29 games. Hes a fallen talent who's an injury just waiting to happen. Wed be better off bringing back Andrew Bynum on one leg.

Rather have Pau to be honest. He can actually teach something worthwhile like a post move or 2 to KP if he comes here. All Noah can do is teach KP how to growl at people and make ugly faces.

I disagree. Noah has declined but if healthy will recover somewhat and his impact will go well beyond the stat sheet.

Can you show me any evidence of a downward statistical spiral for a player in their 30 a who changed it around? Good luck. Also he's a physical mess. I guess if we are looking to be a lottery team it would be fine

I'd say Rasheed Wallace helped get the Knicks to the playoffs, regardless of the numbers he posted. I'm pretty sure that what knixkik was saying.

and what would Noah's role be? Start at C and be the first sub out when we go small? 15-18mpg? Mentor, pro... he's a hot head but a great teammate and has work ethic...

To me it depends on cost. He would be a nice MLE addition after we add bigger parts with the cap space

I wouldn't mind it if it was on a cheap 2 yr deal where he buys in to 15-20 min a game in a timeshare at the 5 with Hernandogomez and KP. Anything more is a hard no for me.

noah never has and never will be about stats...i wouldnt mind him but my only concerns will be cost and health.

other than that hes a LEADER that DEMANDS winning.

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

You may be right but really boils down to his health because that is what has derailed him more than his game falling. Only 31 and two years removed from being selected 1st team All NBA and defensive player of year. He can still board, pass and defend with the best when healthy. Knee issues had taken away from his abilty to lift and finish but offense was never his strength. He's a warrior, some may recall that pre Chrustmas game where he hobbled around on one leg and still outplay Robyn posting a 21/10 game in 25 mins or so. Season ended with dislocated shoulder but he that is supposedly 100% and the extended break may have helped legs as well. Id let docs check him out and if all looks good, then would be comfortable with Knicks pricing him accordingly as a 25 min a night player. Nothing more, if th he has higher expectations for $ or mins then I'd pass

Noah on a one-year deal to get his career on track works for me.

Anything more and its not worth it.

what if it was a 3-4 year deal on the MLE? Just gauging a Knick fan's perception

I think Pau would be the better choice as well. Plus he could be a great teacher to Willy G with the espanol

Great analogy. The leadership and toughness can't be measured by stats.

And he seems to have a fan in Porzingis.

The MLE now is 8.5mm. If we did this whole things to be in shape to give two max contracts next year we can give contract like that. After last year he deserves a 1 year contract--nothing else.

Id take Pau--no problem with that--he can still produce.

Prefer him on a shorter deal but cant have everything. MLE would be a fair tradeoff to 3-4 deal. He supposedly loves NYC but not sure what Noah prioritizes, he was unhappy last year losing his starting job so he may not embrace a lesser role or paycheck. If Im Noah and believe in my health, I might sign a low priced one year deal just to prove myself to set up for that last big deal

No way would I give him 34 mm over 4 years or 26 mm over 3. He just played 29 games.. How about offer Pau a 1 year contract worth 15mm$ with a team option for a second year where a buyout gives him an extra 1mm

both seem feasible and will be a window into what the Knicks plans are. If you see a bunch of 1 year deals like $15mm for Pau than you know its about next year. If they lock up some guys than this is it...

MLE up to $8 plus a year? Good Lord, I got to get updated with cap, mle etc. Anyway, all about him first getting a clean bill of health and then being priced accordingly as a p/t player whatever that is in todays crazy market. Last year we overpaid for Lopez now he is considered cheap

Yeah, agree with this.

I'd sign him, but would hope he'd come cheap. Don't expect more than 15-20 minutes from him. 15-20 from Hernangomez, 15 to 20 from KP at center. KOQ in case of emergencies.
