Look we have seen this movie before with our knicks. We trade a kings ransom for a injury prone player usually in his walk year. Im not trying to be negative but considering rose's injury history along with our terrible luck i wouldnt be surprised if rose is out half the year. On the flipside i wont be surprised if Grant takes a big step with the Bulls and lopez continues to do well on a sweet contract

If I had this power of prediction, I'd buy a Powerball ticket.

I suppose that the big difference is that Rose has an expiring contract, and it seems to be the only saving grace with this trade, which seems to have been made for next year's FA crop.

If he plays well and is healthy we might not get a lottery pick, but that creates a conflict over whether we will resign him next year.

The difference in the 2 movies (past and present) is that we are not handcuffed to multiple years.
I do think we need another starter caliber player who can take the pressure off Rose (I wouldn't play Rose more than 25-30 mins)

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

dont get me wrong rose is tremendous....when he is healthy. The problem is that he has had so many bad injuries the past 4 years that it catches up to players

Hopefully enough games for Phil not to consider signing Rose long term.

The fact that he only has 1 yr left makes the injury issue less significant...we can just let him go.

We needed to get a #1 pick back in this deal, though, or at least a young player with some upside.

This is who some you guys are excited about?

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/id/11860080/derrick-rose-chicago-bulls-acknowledges-concerns-long-term-health

"I'm good, man," Rose said. "I felt like I've been managing myself pretty good. I know a lot of people get mad when they see me sit out or whatever, but I think a lot of people don't understand that ... when I sit out it's not because of this year.

"I'm thinking about long term. I'm thinking about after I'm done with basketball. Having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to, I don't want to be in my meetings all sore or be at my son's graduation all sore just because of something I did in the past. [I'm] just learning and being smart."

thats my only issue with the trade. Even a protected 1st would have been ok

Let him go? Have you been watching the Knicks? We will give him 5 year max deal with a no trade clause.

Well this deal doesn't match your rhetoric does it? This is a very smart deal that only gives the Knicks GREAT options going forward. If Rose plays well and stays healthy great. What if his presence leads to the team getting one of the top FA's this summer? In the end there's really not much negative to say so people are resorting to making up bad FUTURE moves rather than having much to say about the actual deal.

I feel the same way but I just watched an interview with Ric Bucher where he said the Bulls needed to get a #1 back (in place of some/all of the players). Bucher loved the deal for the knicks.

I can't think of a time the Knicks gave up so little to get back more upside with so little RISK!!! We literally have no long term risk with this move.

Hornacek wants uptempo and so RoLo was expendable and he had value, which Phil smartly used to get Rose. Now we still have all the cap space we need to add Free Agent talent this summer!!! There's almost nothing to be bytching about with this deal.

Let's see what Phil does tomorrow night, with UDFA's and in Free Agency.
