Neither guy is on any draft board nba draft net or draftexpress. I have Wiltjer at 28 and Plumlee at 51. Does anyone even know that Plumlee can actually shoot the ball? He never took 1 3 at Duke? Looks pretty good here. Wiltjer is a Chandler Parsons type opf pick great 3 point shooter at 6-10 with some other skills. Im buying his 3 point shooting prowess here--a premium skill from a 6-10 guy. And then Plumlee looks like a pure 2nd round you can develop with his athletic ability and skills youve never seen.

Whitjer is nowhere near Parsons in terms of skill. Also, I thought Plumlee inlisted in one of the armed forces

I LOVE the Plumlee boys! I would be pleased if Phil grabbed Marshall. Hard nosed big with actual shooting ability could come in handy.

It's impossible to predict 2nd round to undrafted guys who will be impact players. Briggs throws a lot out there, but it's just a guess when its all said and done. Can someone tell me guys who got drafted in the second round or undrafted that everyone knew were going to be productive NBA players? The only one i can think of off the top of my head is Dejaun Blair, who would have gone first round if his knees weren't so messed up, and most figured he would be decent for a few years in San Antonio, which he was. But guessing who is the next Parsons, Millsap, etc is just that, a guess.

The only thing I notice is that this years 2nd round is stacked--theres a lot of options for teams right through 60.

And Blair going to THAT team added to his productivity. They used him wisely.

Agreed, this draft goes beyond 60 in terms of quality. I hope I'm wrong but just have a feeling we'll be lucky to walk away with one pick in this draft, hopefully a 2nd in the upper 30s (and Cat Barber would be my man here all the way if he's there. If not, I still want more PG depth i.e. Demetrius Jackson, then Yogi Ferrell--even though Ferrell's poor defense scares me a little, Kay Felder, Gary Payton Jr., Marcus Paige...). I just feel we should double down and improve the most important position on the floor--the PG spot--with not only a quality PG signing in FA but also an extra PG in the draft. I also feel that the cat is outta the bag with Phil trying to acquire a pick now and I think teams will prey on that--I bet they try to milk us dry for that one measly pick, as in our full cash allotment, a future 2nd, the rights to Laberyie, etc.. Hopefully Phil has something already worked out with a team somewhere for a pick in this range. I hear you on Valentine but I'm not sure I risk a 1st rounder/top 5 protected to get him even though I understand where you're going with that--it's ballsy, it really is only expediting a pick in 2017 or 2018 for a pick now (where hopefully all we'll be required to pony up will be a future pick in the 20s because we finally turned the corner and eventually become a good team by then) and I like Valentine as a player too...But there's just too many risk variables for me, stuff we've gotten burned hard on before: what if we're bad next yr or the year after? What if Melo finally breaks down hard by then? What if KP doesn't turn out to be the star we all hope he'll be by then? What if we still have major holes to fill by then, etc., etc.. Just too much risk involved for me--I think I'd prefer to play it straight for once and retain our future 1st round picks...Only other way to get an additional pick would be to deal Grant and/or Willy and I think I'd prefer to see us hang onto both of those guys for the time being.

Speaking of Chandler Parsons btw -- one guy you had mentioned a few weeks ago that reminds me of Parsons a little: Jarrod Uthoff. I really like what that kid brings to table -- about 6'10", knockdown shooter, mobile with and w/o the ball, has a slash game, a little post game and he's a shot-blocker too. I agree with you--I think this kid could even play some 2G against certain teams.. Definitely one of the better non-PGs in round 2 if you ask me.

What do you make outta not working out Cat Barber so far (as far as I know)? You think the kid declined, Phil isn't interested? What?

We wont know that stuff I think. I mean he is a tall Combo like PG who can penetrate shoot and make plays with the dribble. His speed makes every player on the Knicks including Jerian look slow. That being said he needs to work on his defense. I keep hearing about Whitehead--hes good size but he cant finish hes not a good shooter and I think he was lucky he got all of those FGA's that he might not have on other teams.
