Simple question --- if we can only sign one legit PG or SG this summer -- what position do you think it our bigger need?

Biggest need is PG obviously, but don't waste the money this summer. Sign a band aid PG and SG to 1 year or 2 year deal. There's plenty to be had next summer:

A. Our biggest need is SG, NOT a PG. We need a knock down 1-on-1 shoot plus drive to the hoop player and this particular draft seems to have a lot of Shooting and Combo guards. 1 player at SG is not going to cut it so we need to draft one too.
B. Between Jose, Wroten, Grant and Galloway, the position is at least "serviceable".
C. Afflalo is the only SG signed on our roster right now and he does not play to the way this team should play AT ALL. If he opts out and I am hoping he does, SG will be our thinnest position.

But.... if we have to choose between Seth Curry and Derozan, I am going with more value for the money Curry. Derozan is probably gonna get some kind of max deal.

btw, all these sad SGs getting paid all this $$$ and Korver is getting paid only 5.7 mill? whats up with that??

Losing Afflalo would be a disaster especially if a replacement isn' found. Afflalo was still the best percentage shooter on the Knicks shooting close to 46% from the field and 38% from three. A new system may benefit him more.

If we can't get M.Conley then i think they should just sign a cheaper point guard and get a legit SG. M.Conley would make everyone on the team better and we all know that Melo has always had his best seasons when he has a legit PG playing with him.

Well on a team without any legit shooters besides Calderon he should of been the best percentage shooter on the team and that's not saying much. Afflalo needs to go. There's a lot of free agent SG's i'll take over Afflalo with A.Crabbe, C.Lee, J.Clarkson, E.Fournier, E.Gordon, S.Hill to name a few.

It's a tough question because the more important position for us is PG, but right now with Grant, Wroten, Calderon, and even Galloway, we have options at that position for the short-term. We literally have nothing at SG, and with that position generally light around the league, this summer is probably our best chance to grab a quality SG for the long-term, so i would say it is more important to fill the SG need this summer.

The way I would do is like this.

Im NOT of the opinion we should spend 15mm + on a PG but Im willing to use it ONLY on Allan Crabbe as a SG. If he doesnt work if Portland matches than Id look for 1-2 year vets and or a new MLE to Seth Curry 4 years 32mm$

PG is like this for me. I like organic growth--we can use combo guards. If Valentine drops I would TRY to use a future 1 to acquire him.

Secondly Id be very aggressive trying to acquire a pick in the 30's like we did last year and one past 45 to use on Cat Barber(speed ballhandling) and Forbes(3 pt shooting) Lastly Id take Derrick Jones immediately signed to a good camp deal to compensate for a traded pick---put him at westchester all year to develop at 19 years old. Lastly Id make a super aggressive offer to Crabbe and then a smallish offer to a vet PG. My goal would be to rotate Valentine and Grant using our vets as stabilizers. Were not winning the championship next year but we can win a lot of games while we grow organically. This also increased our asset base of which we always have thin amounts in case we come across a trade etc../ So other than 1 player IF it even executes--Im not willing to spend big multiple years on any other player this year--choosing to get good young players and to grow organically with some vet stabilizers. All of the guys I mentioned are good 3 point shooters which Im taking a high priority on. Curry can also be on this list if we have the money and we cant Crabbe.

I think with Wroten, Grant, Calderon, our biggest need is actually at SG. But a SG who can make plays. I think that list is essentially Nic Batum and Evan Turner.

I would also try to bring back Afflalo. He was a good player for us until Rambis took over. Convince AA to come off the bench and try like hell to sign Batum. Evan Turner wouldn't be a terrible consolation prize.

There's no ideal PG out there this summer. I like Jennings ok. Conley will be severely overpaid. Rondo... I dunno... I don't trust him.

I'm thinking we'll go for Turner and maybe also a wild card like Nando De Colo or something.

Maybe add a young SG or PG in the second round if they can buy a pick, too.

SG - Turner / Afflalo / Galloway / draft a PG/SG in second round
SF - Melo / Lance / (some Afflalo/Turner here)

I'm ok with Turner as long as we add one or two 3 pt shooters to play with him. Curry and Leuer might be good, reasonable options.

Earlier on, I thought Turner might be a FA target. Now I'm not so sure. JH was pretty clear he wants guys who can shoot (not score, but shoot). I think this probably bodes well for Jose and AA to some degree, though personally I would like upgrades at both, and specifically ones who do a better job on defense. I think that's the cheapest path to upgrade.

I believe this team can make a playoff run with a playoff proven PG (not Calderon). Don't want AA back, would rather try giving Grant and Wroten time at the two instead of a logjam at PG, if their defense is up to snuff next season. Hornacek's tweeks might make it work.

This is just one potential. KP can be an elite 3pt shooter. Melo is above average. Afflalo is above average. Calderon is actually a top three point shooter. Lance is average.

Yes, they need to get more shooters. I'm not sure I realistically see us getting any through FA this summer. I know you'll mention the name of restricted free agent from Portland Allen Crabbe and restricted free agent Seth not Steph Curry.

You mean afflalo play half court post up bs offense, I thought he was told to play that way
