Isaiah Whitehead hasn't formally signed with an agent, but the Seton Hall sophomore guard says he's "100 percent" gone if he gets a promise to be chosen in the first round of next month's NBA Draft.

"Oh yeah, 100 percent," Whitehead said Thursday at the NBA Draft Combine after going for 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting with 5 assists, 3 rebounds and no turnovers in a 109-69 victory. "You can't give up opportunities like that. I mean, when they tell you it's time to go, you just gotta go."

He added to SNY.tv: "And anybody at Seton Hall would have to agree with me. When they tell you that you're a first-round pick, you can't turn that down."

The Brooklyn native is currently projected as the No. 65 best prospect in 2016 by DraftExpress.com, and as the No. 35 pick in 2017, but he's hoping to impress here at the Combine.

Isaiah Whitehead has several fans in the Knicks organization, including star forward Carmelo Anthony. Whitehead has worked out with Anthony at the Knicks star's Terminal 23 gym in Manhattan. Anthony came away from the workouts impressed with the Seton Hall guard, according to people in the gym. Whitehead also worked out for the Knicks on Saturday at their training facility in Tarrytown. At 6-5, Whitehead has the kind of size that Phil Jackson coveted in his backcourt during his coaching days with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Oftentimes, the Knicks have to consider how a potential prospect will handle life in New York. That doesn't seem like it would be an issue for Whitehead. The 21-year-old thrived at Coney Island's Lincoln High School, winning a city championship at Madison Square Garden; he also was named MVP of the 2016 Big East Tournament at MSG, helping Seton Hall stun eventual national champion Villanova in the title game. By all accounts, Whitehead is well-mannered and well-liked by teammates. The Knicks, who plan to acquire a draft pick, may have to trade to a spot in the late first round to land Whitehead.

I hope Knicks choose him and stash him in Weschester because he still needs a little bit of improvement. He has the most upside in that list. I hope the Knicks get 2 of those guys like they did with Cleanthony and Thanasis.

Gbinije & Whitehead, do it phil

bulls and celtics keeping a close eye on whitehead. they know deal. i could see him going to the bulls which can be a steal. celtics has too many guards but they're very much interested

wh4t wrote:Whitehead has more upside. He's ambidextrous and handles the ball very well. Keeps his head up with good court vision and a great passer with good point guard playmaking abilities. He's a shooter but i agree that he still needs a lot of improvement and being efficient. He also needs to work on his turnovers too. He attacks the rim and his free throw attempts shows that. He's a great defender with a wingspan of nearly 6'9''. His wingspan is longer than Galloway & Grant and is a better defender than them. He can also carry a team because Seton Hall was off the radar for while until Whitehead showed up. I think he should stay one more year to develop and have the same effect like Kris Dunn did. He can definitely be a top 10 prospect if decides to play one more year.

Still, the Knicks are also looking to buy a draft pick and also build through youth. Whitehead is currently projected as the No. 56 pick by DraftExpress.com, but Andrew Moore, who trained Whitehead at Impact Academy in Las Vegas, said he believes his protege can help an NBA team right now.

"He'll be ready to play right away," Moore told SNY.tv. "He can make all the plays for any offense from the point guard position, with or without the ball. He'll be a tough on-ball defender."

I love whitehead as a player, his shooting needs major improvement though.

Isiaih has so many flaws. If you go back 20 years no player from college who shot under 40% from both 2 and 3 from the g position has ever gone on to be a good nba player none. So isiah is going against the odds. One thing about jerian especially in college is that he was a high % 2 pt player isiah is slow and doesn't have hops. Maybe like sterling Gibbs he looks a whole lot better playing at seton hall and pick up ball Sterling was much different at Uconn MUCh

I actually work with one of the assistant coaches from Lincoln. He says Whitehead wants the Knicks to draft him. He's a knick fan. He also said that their camp is getting feedback from teams that he will go in the first round. I told him what the Internet is saying... that he could fall all the way out the draft. He politely told me to get the **** outta here.

For a 2nd round pick i think he'd be a good pick but having another player that doesn't shoot well isn't exactly what we need. Some players actually adjust better to the NBA game than expected so maybe he could end up being a good pick but we won't know that for a while. Any player that gets drafted in the 2nd round will have question marks so hopefully if we do get a pick or two we can get some luck and get us a good one.

Isaiah Whitehead discusses his workout with Jeff Hornacek and the Knicks

Will Whitehead be anointed by the Jackson-Houston-Hornacek trinity?

Combo guard Isaiah Whitehead has spent most of the past few months in Las Vegas, preparing for the NBA draft, but the New York prep legend did make a brief return to his hometown last weekend to work out with the Knicks before shipping right back out to the desert.

As one might expect, team president Phil Jackson, new head coach Jeff Hornacek and assistant GM Allan Houston were running the show. Here's what Whitehead had to say about the workout, per SNY's Mike Grimala:

"More than half of it was triangle offense," he said. "I've never run anything like that. It was a lot to pick up, but once I got the hang of it I really excelled at it."

Whitehead said Hornacek ran the workout and that the coach was "hands-on" in teaching the offense, and that the decision makers were complimentary of his play during post-workout interviews.

"I think I did pretty well for my first time running the triangle," Whitehead said. "Coach Hornacek showed me a few things that really helped. It was a good workout. They really like me as a player, so that's a blessing."

This is the second reported instance of Hornacek running a triangular workout since he took over the head coach position last week. It helps to think of these not only as workouts for the players, but for Hornacek as a coach. He's never worked with the Triangle before, so he might as well play around with in a bit while seeing what fits and what doesn't.

As for Whitehead, here's hoping he really did make a good impression on the Knicks' front office. He is very well liked among the P&T staff. Our own Sir Charles Osborn will be bringing you a comprehensive prospect profile at noon 1 pm, to accommodate the Rambis news, so watch out!

His stock is rising. At first he was projected around the late 2nd round now he's projected to be in the late 1st round. I guess he's been performing well in these workouts

Yeah. I get a bit caught up in potential. I am at a draft party with some net fans. They thought the nets should go euro stash Caris was a second rounder. Both guys they got have foot issues. Capris had surgery on his foot by the same guy that did bropez's surgery.
