Transcendent figure as an athlete and as a man, and arguably the best heavyweight fighter who ever lived.

Sad that he ended up with an affliction which diminished such a great mind and wit, and ironic that the same drive which kept him fighting beyond the time he should have retired probably led to his physical demise.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I just remember seeing his fights in the early 70's as a young boy, all the great fights and then watching with sadness when he fought Larry Holmes and took a vicious and unnecessary beating. Even Holmes didn't want to do it. Outside of those things he was such a strong role model in terms of Black Pride and the fight for equality as well as his stance against the War. He was an imperfect man like all of us but what a life!

Man this really sucks. My dad always got raw clams for Ali fights. I remember Frazier on wonderama before he fought Ali. The Greatest. This just sucks. I saved up money from my paper route to by a speed bag because I wanted to be like Ali.

Rest in Peace champ. A Renaissance man if there ever was one. One of my childhood heroes. Great memories watching his 70s fights as a child on ABC. Saw the Holmes fight at the old Palladium, before it became a club. Never saw so many Hells Angels in one place, lol.

What amazed me most about Ali the boxer was how his jab had no wind up, it was like a guided missile. Never saw anyone throw a punch so effortlessly. One of his many qualities as a fighter.
