You look at some of Pheonix sets with Hornachek, they ran UCLA 1-4 cut, horns, and plenty of high post action. The way I see it Jeff likely showed Phil how Kristaps, Melo and others would benefit from those sets combined with Triangle. The team already knows a little bit Triangle, and likely they keep a significant part of it. But what they can now add is some UCLA 1-4 cut offense, more Horns plays, and of course the early offense (transition).
Difference in what Fisher was doing - it was leading to too much 1 on 1 and bad spacing. Phil gets knocked for not wanting an offense other than the Tri, yet Fish was allowed to run OKC offense last year with some Triangle. Phil just didn't like the way it was becoming too 1 on 1 oriented, not enough cohesion and a lack of consistency despite being 50 games into the season. Your offense is supposed to get better as the season progresses not worse. That is where I think Hornachek has given Phil faith. He will run some Triangle, some of his Pheonix offense, but most of all do it consistently with a hope that as our season moves forward so does the offensive execution. We will see where it is in a year from now, but I'm excited to see Melo and KP in the offense. I also think we should definitely pursue a point guard that can shoot, pass and drive as this is what Hornachek's offense and our team balance needs.
We may wanna give Pat Riley a call and see if he's interested in trading Dragic. Dragic was outstanding in the offense in Pheonix.
