http://hardwoodhoudini.com/2016/05/29/boston-celtics-should-trade-second-round-pick-to-new-york-knicks/

Celts articles suggests that KOQ is not worth a 1st to the Celts, but maybe the #35 plus another pick would be worth it for them to poach KOQ from the Knicks. Because they have so many picks and KOQ's contract is so manageable, I would hold out for more.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Yeah this is the kind of stuff I wanna see happen! 😜

Kyle O’Quinn, the fourth-year player out of Norfolk State only appeared in 65 games for New York last season. His minutes fluctuated and it led to a deflated stat line, however, he still has a lot of potential and is only owed around $4 million in each of the next three seasons.

I doubt Boston would let go of a first round pick to acquire O’Quinn, but the Celtics could trade the 35th pick, and possibly one more, to land the big man.

He’s not a name that many people know but O’Quinn would be a great addition for Boston. Not only would his 6’10” and 250 pound build add great size to the Celtics’ front court, but, he is still young and budding with potential as he looks for consistent minutes.

It's not a rumor, it's an opinion piece by a fan.

It's really not a dumb move as the likely hood of a 2nd rder out producing O'Quinn is very unlikely. Despite O'Quinn having a bad year he was quite productive. He's played enough NBA minutes to determine that he is a legit quality NBA player.

Just reading an opinion that KOQ has some value and Boston might be interested is music to my ears. Ainge has a similar view of KOQ. We need picks and they could use a decent Big on a great contract.

Yeah, it is not necessarily a great move for the knicks but they need/want wings. I think O'Quinn is worth two picks(31 and 35 would be nice). I think it would be smarter to try to get a 2017 2nd rd pick instead of two 2016 2nds though. 2017 will probably have a better pool of players and it would be nice to go into that draft with 3 picks(1st, 2nd[Hou], 2nd[Bos])

Wow, I do that deal in a heartbeat. I didn't care for O'Quinn's play at all last year and wouldn't mind turning the page on him.

At least we know Phil is dead set on getting picks as well. Just gotta make it happen. We can move a KOQ. Phil did a good job getting him on such a cap friendly contract and he makes sense to use in a deal.

If THjr got us a late first rounder, KOQ should likewise land us something equivalent, if not better as he is a big and size has a premium attached.

As opposed to a smart opinion by a douchebag writer?

Yep, 2nd rounders even high ones more likely than not arent NBA players. O'Quinn can be a back of rotation player

Just realized- best comparison here - would you trade KOQ for Cleanthony Early?

Do I need to comment?

I think its 50/50 that Early is even in the league next year, let alone plays.

At least you know KOQ can play serviceable minutes at the 4/5.

Is there anything in any of the stats (even the player tracking data, which looks at defense) to indicate KOQ is as bad as you say, or is this entirely an eyeball assessment? (Serious question, not an attack.) All of the advanced stats on BBall Reference would seem to indicate he's actually outperforming his contract and worth way more than 1 (or even 2) 2nd round pick.

no thanks. I will keep KOQ. Good depth bigman on a great contract. He's a 5, not a 4, that's the only problem. He should be competing with Willy for the backup 5 next season. He's worth more than pick 35.

It would have to be someone I really like in this draft, so maybe they use him to target a particular player. That would be better than just using him to trade into the draft.

if it's possible I'm interested. Phil and his guys have proven they can find players... I'd want to keep KOQ normally however I want Hernangomez to get all of KOQ's minutes anyways and the Knicks need guards

Even though KOQ didn't have a good year for us which i let be known throughout the season on here, i'm not sure trading him for a 2nd rounder is all that great of an idea cause the chances of getting a player that will make it in the NBA with a 2nd round pick isn't all that great. I would love to get a pick or two but would rather try to trade our 2nd round pick we have in 2017 and the two 2nd round picks we have in 2019 to get into this draft. Now i absolutely wouldn't be angry if we trade KOQ for something in this draft but not sure how good an idea it is. I think KOQ can be a better player than he was last year on a better team with better players around him with a better coach and most likely a better system and i think the same about K.Seraphin.

O'Quinn's game went south when he gave up on his jumper. When he got back to making those mid range jumpers, it opened up the rest of his game. If KOQ can get back to showing an inside/outside game, he will be OK.
