http://www.postingandtoasting.com/2016/5/29/11805762/we-need-wings-crabbe-vs-bazemore-offense-comparison

This is a deep article with lots of Stats so I won't be able to post everything. This is just the beginnig of the article.

We Need Wings: Crabbe vs. Bazemore Offense Comparison
By The Ghost of Kristaps Past @TeamTradeSports on May 29, 2016, 10:06a 19

The 2016 NBA Draft is coming up very soon. We don't have our lottery pick because we once decided that Andrea Bargnani was good at basketball and we don't have our 2nd round pick because we once decided we had to give up assets to require Raymond Felton. Good times.

What we do have to look forward to is having cap space. Now as Knicks fans, this is a foreign concept that we became familiar with last summer. To refresh everybody's memory, what cap space allows the Knicks to do is pay money to players in order to entice them to leave their current teams for the Knicks. It's something we may need to be accustomed too with our likely flexibility moving forward year-to-year and the impending cap jump the next 2 summers.

I previously wrote a couple of fanposts taking a look at both Evan Fournier and Tyler Johnson.

Fournier and Johnson Offense Comparison and Fournier and Johnson Defense Comparison.

That's a shameless plug for you guys to read those, but I'm shameless, so **** you.

Let's take a look at couple of other wings that will be available as free agents shall we?

To refresh everybody on how the Knicks sucked at shooting from many areas of the floor last season let's take a look.

This writer did a Fournier v Tyler Johnson comparision

I've touted Fournier even over Batum. While the latter is more polished and probably a better passer, he'll turn 28 next year. Fournier could mature with KP, Grant, Wroten, Willy G and yes perhaps Williams!

The only problem is that the Magic will likely match our offer unless maybe it's the full max for his class. They love Fournier.

and they have said recently they have every single intention on re-signing him

Orlando is poised to be aggressive this summer during free agency, according to Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, though he added that they will be “very disciplined,” as well. Hennigan said that re-signing Fournier is a top priority this offseason.

One thing I pick up from these analyses is that Bazemore's stats looked better because the shots he takes are more efficient, even if he doesn't shoot as well as Crabbe. There are less long twos than Crabbe. In that regard, when looking at FAs, guys like Bazemore might be misleading where you would hope you can put any FA you sign into a better TS% position. I like Hornacek because he thinks like that (regardless of system).

My ideal guard shot chart has shots around the perimeter and at the rim. Not much in between.

You know I gonna spin wit it

If the Knicks go after Crabbe hopefully there is something to the point that he might not drive to the rim because his role with Lillard and McCollum is to be the spot up shooter.

if you look at his draft profile video on draftexpress you will see it was a negative going back to College but that doesn't mean he can't improve some.

True but Batum has soooo much more to his game then Fournier has. Fournier is a shooter and Batum is a not as good shooter (obviously) but rebounds, plays defense and can play two positions very well but is injured much more than Fournier. I think between the two i'm still going with Batum but wouldn't be upset at all with Fournier and on the Bazemore vs Crabbe i've always been on the Crabbe side and still am but again wouldn't be upset with Bazemore.

He should be able to play well getting passes from Wroten/Grant as they drive to the hoop. He great at catch and shoot and on a team where he'll likelt be a 3/4th option that is pretty good. He only needs to improve his handle enough to not be iced out by just placing a defending on him at the corners. Its not horrible now so he could improve.

Here the shot charts from the article

Crabbe's shot chart

Bazemore's Shot chart

and because I think he should be mentioned in this debate

Fournier's Shot Chart

Pretty interesting stuff. Crabbe is the most efficient. Fournier took more shots and maintained a bigger role in the offense and stayed at a respectable shot%. Bazemore isn't a great shooter but can drive with the best of them. The 3 all bring certain things to the game, I prefer Crabbe and Fournier myself. Hopefully at least one of them are the FA target for this year.

Thx for the charts. I think Phil is gonna go hard to try and land one of these guys. It's just too much of a huge hole in the roster to be ignored. This team is desperate for a legit SG and hopefully one that can do more than score. I hope he can get his guy this summer.
