Horny isn't a sexy pick at all, but if he has "Simpatico" with Phil that's all that matters right? My only concern is trying to win too many games this season, jeopardizing a top 5 pick in a strong 2017 NBA draft. If Phil/Horny's smart, they'll just spend most of the season implementing Horny's offense and mixing and matching rotations to get to their hopefully 25-30 wins and a decent shot in the lottery. If they somehow max a free agent like a Batum, Conley, Jennings, Derozan, Rondo etc, we're phucking doomed to 40 win mediocrity for the next few years.
I see no way this team doesn't have another sizeable jump in wins next season. If Horn implements his system it will be EASIER for the players to grasp and more comfortable to their skills. That's not a recipe for struggle. Sounds like a way for this team to possibly overachieve depending on who they bring in. If they run Triangle only 15-20% as I would imagine would happen, then I think this team would not have a lottery type season.
IMO If Phil has a good summer upgrading the guard spots this team could do what I had expected they'd do this year and get to the 45 win range. They lost a lot of close games this year that they could actually win with better talent and an easier system to run. It's really gonna come down to which guards Phil is able to add and how much Horn can develop the young guards we already have.
