lac/por (rule 1 - paul gets hurt)
okc/dal (rule 1)
sas/mem (rule 1)

round 2:
cle/atl (rule 1)
mia/tor (rule 1)
gsw/por (rule 1)
okc/sas (rule 1)

i think this hypothesis will apply to almost all playoff series going back the past few years (aka this current era of nba basketball).

so what does this mean? that the only way to really advance in the playoffs is to have superior guard/sf play to your opponent. if you can't get scorers in those positions, then you must at least have players that can cancel out the opposing teams guards and then have a superior front court.

the spurs are the poster boys for "ball movement" - but ultimately, they lost to the okc thunder b/c westbrook/durant severely outplayed the spurs wings (aka kawhi). even tho the spurs had aldridge, he was not going to be the determining factor b/c rule 1 of my hypothesis applies.

how does this apply to your ny knickerbockers? you need to get at least one guard that can score 20 ppg and change your offense to allow for that guard and melo to put up shots.

Can even say the rule persisted last year out west when basically GSW went unscathed while the PG gods struck down opponents in their path!

I look forward to seeing Grant and Wroten develop further. Both guards have shown they can get into the paint at the NBA level. Grant at least demonstrated his jumper was improving. Gotta hope the same can happen with Wroten. If we can add one of the young guards like Crabbe that should help a lot.
