Awesome. More from Herring:
Meanwhile, as the Knicks were quietly continuing their hunt for a coach in Chicago—curiously, Allan Houston ran the team’s combine interviews in place of Jackson and Mills—dozens of NBA prospects were competing to improve their stock ahead of next month’s draft.

Given their strengths in the frontcourt and weaknesses in the backcourt, the Knicks seemed largely focused on wing players at the combine.

Seton Hall’s Isaiah Whitehead and Syracuse’s Michael Gbinije—both guards who are likely to be taken in the second round or sign with teams as free agents—said they either had already interviewed, or were scheduled to interview, with the Knicks during their time in Chicago. That lends credence to the theory that New York plans to buy a second-round pick or two, as it has done in the past.

Whatever the case, it’s safe to say that curiosity about the Knicks’ potential interest in a late draft pick pales in comparison to what’s happening with the prolonged coaching search. Until Jackson and the Knicks finally make a decision, be it Rambis or someone else, the future of the team can’t fully begin to take shape.

whitehead needs another year of college ball. his shot is waaaaay to inconsistent for the pros right now. if he stays and has a big year and improves that shot he'll move to the mid first round, instead of 2nd rd where he's currently slotted.

Whitehead would be a streal in the second round. That's a hungry kid.

Gbinije would be a nice pickup. He's a big guard with nice shooting and passing. Played PG mostly at Syracuse at 6'7. Would be a good fit and should be a decent NBA role player.
