Can we just get rid of this guy please?

He's not royalty. He's not doing anything for New York. He's obnoxious. He's a Primadonna. He's terrible. He's a clown.

Wrap him up in plastic and ship him out of Gotham and blame it on The Joker.

I'm just frustrated with Carmelo that's all.

I don't want him to go. I just feel like he has been a roadblock in the team's development.

he has a no trade clause. he also played 30 or so great team-ball oriented games this season. if he decides to go then that is fine. if he decides to stay i think it's safe to assume he will play basketball the right way. if he doesn't then jackson/rambis/? will have the power to bench him which will then led back to his no-trade clause. either way the knicks win.

only scenario where the knicks lose is if there are no takers for melo. that would be bad for both the knicks and melo. bad for the knicks because it would stall their growth, bad for melo because it would cement the notion that he has been grossly overpaid for his services, and would taint what little nba legacy he has created, which is next to nothing as of may 2016.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Carmelo Anthony:

- hosted a mini training camp for his new teammates to build chemistry.

- has been credited by our rookie sensation for taking him under his wing.

- has repeatedly expressed his desire to remain with the team.

- led the team in PPG, RPG, and tied for most APG.

- approached the coaching staff to give more minutes to younger players once eliminated from the postseason.

- is a cancer to New York.

Got it.

He has been one of the biggest influences on the next superstar for this franchise, and that development is going very well. If your concern about him is specifically his influence on team development, you should be kissing his feet.

to add to this... this transformation to lebron like numbers and play happened in a single season!!
3 assists per game in nov
4 in dec
5 in jan and feb if i remember.

i think melo fully bought into what phil was selling. i think as the go to guy who has a very strong desire to win the ultimate championship, he is well within himself to question the direction that this franchise is headed in, or should he end up like wade...leaving money on the table and searching for nba finals appearances after lebron's departure.

Leave the man alone.
He paint himself in the corner with no way out.
There is no way we will get anything for him so let him do some good things for NY team while it is rebuilding.
When the prime time will come he will be making his bucket list.

He's not a cancer, but he should be the team's 2nd most reliable player, instead of 1st. Thus lowering the load on him, and the amount of "carrying" he has to do. In his current role (the man) wherever he has gone he has shown he can not get it done. Our team last year not only lacked a top quality 2nd option (It was a toss up between KP, Afflalo and RoLo) they also lacked a top quality 1st option.

A championship level team has Melo as it's 2nd best player. So long as we keep putting Melo in the role to be the best player, both he and the team he is on will keep scratching their heads. Deep down I think Phil knows this. That's why he makes many of those comments However it won't be easy finding a better player than Melo in trade or free agency. Or to ask KP to become better, that's a lot to ask of him. With Melo I think we're stuck - we're not with enough capspace and draft pick potential to get major talent that way. With some veteran moves, we're a playoff team at best. The smartest thing to do is to trade him and get some longterm assets unless somehow they can get a player good enough on the roster that puts Melo's role to a more fitting 2nd option.

Well said. All of us Knicks wouldn't mind Melo so much if he were Robin to someone else's Batman. Unfortunately, he's being paid like Batman and doesn't perform like one, so that's the conundrum we're in.

Hopefully KP6 is our Kal-El.

That's why I like free agency plan. There's an opportunity even if the chances are low, to go out and sign a player that would push Melo to a more fitting 1B or 2nd option role. This year there is DeRozan or Durant. Neither is likely to sign, but I bet they take meetings with us and that's where we have to make some magic work. Next year, we have an opportunity to go and try to sign Westbrook, Paul, Hayward. It's always a long shot you sign players away from their teams that are in a good situation, but sometimes the stars allign and it works out. This is where the team has to market Melo, Porzingis and the feeling of being a Knick, playing at MSG on a nightly basis. This is what Phil was alluding to with the media, instead of trashing the team and the situation, they should be pushing the "come here to play with KP/Melo and feel what it's like to be a Knick" agenda instead.

How will they get melo to help with marketing if he seems to be confused as to where he stands?

Like it or not, NY right now is not looking good on paper as a place to come.

so here is what phil is thinking ....
