I don't think this long period of time spent negotiating hurts at all. Goodwin is pressuring both sides, and the Bulls definitely won't benefit from resigning an unhappy Jamal. Let the war of attrition begin!

Funny though that the article does not have one quote from Paxson himself.

good point with GM's knocking half the rumors that circulate, its important to have a quote from the gm himself.

but how can this be? Marc Berman in the post wrote they both just spoke and would reach a deal any day now... I read it in the paper.

I don't even pay attention to what these clowns write in there papers. On the same freakin day they wrote that Iseah is trying to make take Mooch, while in a nother article, Goodwin, Craw's agent claimed that Mooch was taken out long ago. Its all a load of bs.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

yeah you're probably right. Actually we were never after Crawford, Isiah never talked to Chicago-he was actually in Zambawee looking at a 14 year old 7 foot 9 inch PG.

Seriously, I think that you can use common sense and piece things together. The two teams talked quite a bit over the last month with Thomas talking and Chicago balking--understandibly so. From everything I have read, there is 0 chance of a deal in it's current format. In fact, I find it hard to believe that Chicago would be willing to let Crawford go for very little monetary consideration. They need Crawford and if they do end up dealing him it will be for substantial talent or significant cap relief--neither of which can be
completed with the Knicks.
My bet is Chicago has postured and stalled--putting Jamal in a poor position concerning a contract. It's either play for 1 year or take the 40mm--anyone really thinks he's coming to the knicks for nothing must have their head in the sand. the Knicks have been used in this scenario.

If Crawford does become a Knick, I can't imagine how embarrassed Briggs will feel

I don't care if it happens now or six weeks from now (although if it's not until six weeks from now, we'll get about twelve more new threads in the meantime of Briggs telling us he knows Jamal won't be a Knick)

This writer has agreed to let himself be used by Paxson in an attempt to break the impasse with Isiah in his favor.

btw, The Knicks were going to buy out Spoon. Why not just buy out Moochie, and be done with it?

I didn't believe for one second that they were going to buy out Spoon; they may have spread that rumor to try to get teams to offer players for him once they heard that NY was *supposedly* going to lose him for nothing. It's extremely unusual for a player with a large contract and more than one year left to be bought out. (There probably are others, but Mutombo is the only one I can even think of.)

of course i want crawford for what amounts to crp from the knicks. the problem is, as I see it:>) Chicago has made some brutal mistakes trading players to soon instead of letting them develop. while crawford may be a pain in the arse to the bulls in many other areas and control the ball to much--HOW could they go into the season with Ben gordon as their starting 2G when he is all of 6-2? to me it makes sense to have a 3 man rotation in the backcourt with a fourth guy[maybe duhon?] as a 5-8 minute player.

if you put the line up as of now

C-Curry
PF Chandler w Antoni Davis and Jerome Williams

SFDeng Johnson and posibly that Italian player

SG Crawford and Gordon
PG Heinrich Pargo Duhon

without crawford you are looking at 3 guys 6-2 and under with very little experience.

even if they wanted to trade crawford--they need atalent for talent transaction

im using common sense here--i dont see what they get out of trading him to NY.

If they want to dump him--trade him to Dallas for Stackhouse. I think Dallas might do that.
