We already have that with wroten. Galloway is an undersized 2 guard with a mechanical jumps hot and drastic consistency issues. If Forbes fell through he'd give us a really solid 3 pt specialist as 14-15 guy for 600 k forbes will be in the 42-45% range and we could make him play learn pg at westchester.

Seems a bit much to assume that Bryn would be an upgrade over Gallo at the NBA level. How can you be sure about that? People hate on Gallo but he's not at bad as people make him out to be considering he's in his 1st full NBA season and was undrafted. Look at where he's ranking.

Galloway is a 2 guard with a mechanical jump shot in a 1 g body. Bryn is a pure shooter

You totally miss the point! There's more to success at the NBA level than being a Pure shooter at the NCAA level. Gallo isn't even fully developed yet and he's not far off from being a very solid NBA player. Just cuz you don't like his shot doesn't mean Gallo isn't going to be able to continue to develop as a player. He actually made progress from last year to this year. I just think you're assuming an awful lot about Bryn Forbes.

I'm not saying you're wrong just that it's a long way to go for this kid to just come in and perform at the level that Gallo is at even if Gallo is not blowing anyone away just yet. Technically Gallo shouldn't even have made it to the NBA but he is here and actually performing pretty well.

i concur

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I think the fact that the Knicks let Galloway go over the 2,000 minute mark that essentially tripled his qualifying offer from 1.1M to 2.8M means that they are bringing him back. He's as much a part of the Triangle culture Phil is trying to build as Rambis is.

I get that sometimes folks here are spitballing about what they WANT to happen. But in terms of what WILL happen - I think Galloway has been a good soldier for Phil and Rambis and will get a fair contract.

I agree. Galloway is a decent backup who plays solid D and when combined with a reasonable contract is a nice asset to have. The issues with the Knicks remains who they will eventually acquire (or not) to start at the 1 and 2.

Well thats the whole gig. Can we find a player for 600k that can do what he does(probably better) and save that money?

I didn't realize Galloway's as key to this year's defense as he is. He's top 5 or close to it in almost every meaningful defensive stat. But I also believe his play during the tank season has to have an asterisk next to it.

He surely does need to work on the shot though. His D isn't great enough to be paying a SG who can't shoot.

Gallo is performing at a level that is higher than you give him credit for. He's coming off the bench and really is close to putting it all together. If he improves his shooting a bit he can be an above average guard. If he goes to the basket just a bit more he could get there. The HARD PART is finding a good defensive SG. If his flaw is needing to improve his jumper I'd stick with him.

That comment seems a bit rough! Gallo was a Undrafted player and he didn't even play a full season in his rookie year! Still his improvement is a fact. Dude is just a bit more experienced than a rookie and he can still refine his game. Why is he not afforded any credit for improving? He's had a better season than some guys that were drafted.

You're dissing him like he's been around for a long time and hasn't improved when in fact he has improved in his 2nd season. If the Knicks can find a better player of course they should look to bring him in but Gallo off the bench has a chance to be better next year.

I am back and forth on Gallo and can't decide if he's just a very young guy going thru the development stages still before his real game appears or if he's just not cut out for more than 15th man on a good team. His first month was excellent offensively; since then he couldn't shoot, and it was very bad. Doesn't handle ball well, makes not good decisions with the ball, not really a plus defender. Excellent rebounder.

Don't know what to make of him. I'd keep him at $1-2M tops, after everything else is done.

Guys like Gallo are always the tough call, cuz they're just on the edge of being a useful reserve. The reason I keep posting advanced stat lists of players is to kind of have a gauge to measure our players against. Our guards are pretty much at the bottom, but Gallo for a good stretch was doing very well. I don't know what happened to him in terms of his shooting but it seems he lost something in his mechanics. There's a chance he can get that figured out over the summer.

I just hate to kill the guy when I think we highlight his flaws more than appreaciate what he's done in less than 2 full seasons of games!!!

Gallo is ranked 26 in RPM and 21 in RPM Wins. I don't think this is the best we'll see of him. Let's remember that he played 45 games in year one and this year was his 1st full season. As a bench player I don't think he's bad at all.

Norman Powell will be THE absolute steal of the draft. Great second round--heck he may go 27 and down but I would LOVE to get this guy. His abilities scream that they translate to the NBA in a BIG way. Powerful long super athletic great defender beautiful penetration from any angle can push from 1 or 2. Hs a mid range jumpshot. Willing passer solid rebounder from 2 G can play bigger in terms of D. VERSATILE

You want to play good defense in the NBA? You better find defenders like Powell and Justin Andersen on the wing. Andersen will go to high but Powell can be had

Gallo fell off on his shooting but still ended up better than Powell in Real Plus Minus.

What's your point? There are tons of stats out there. In the end most will suffice to make differences clear. You can have your favorites but I think when discussing guys you figure to be coming off your bench there's nothing wrong with RPM. Gallo was brought in as a reserve. He's not a high draft pick that you're expecting to be performing at the highest levels. He's still developing and so far hasn't been terrible.
By the way--we dont need Langston Galloway if Bryn Forbes is bypassed in the draft
