Would be the best move Jimmy D done for the Knicks in years. A proven commodity, a proven winner, tons of experience as an exec, the opposite of Phil's noob style. Built playoff teams out of two ****hole franchises. Fleeced the Knicks repeated times (Melo trade, Bargnani trade). Stole from the Knicks pockets so many times, he got Dolan so shook and frazzled that Dolan 2nd guessed himself on the Kyle Lowry trade to New York, and it ended up roses for Toronto.

Masai has done a great job but one has to look at the hand he was dealt when he walked on the job. One has to look very closely at a teams assets the moment the new guy walks on the job. Like in NY, Isiah table was set based on the previous two years where Layden (via Dolan) did little after the Dyss disaster), and Toronto under colangelo had not done well, but the team did not need a full tear down. Teams that after missing the playoffs for 5 years then make it three straight is not because the new GM came on the job Exclusively. I doubt he even takes the job (Logical) if they did not have assets in place and that he could work with and feel he could succeed with.

Chuck, its common for you being "That Guy" that you like to repel against others high expectations like Melo being a worshipped as a god, or those that show love for phil and you relish being "that guy" who "KNows" phil was not a god and can strut around saying "Told yah", but there are many that have tempered expectations and don't take the starphuch. At the same level, we don't take the Isola weak story and run with it either. It is all over the internet so it starts to have some elements of validity, but really its nothing.

Would I like him here? Sure, but why do 5 years of triangle and culture building then have to clean house again for the next philosophy? If Phil does not succeed then perhaps we go in another direction, but if after just two years on the job and the assets in place over that time do factor in. We are paying dearly for that Bargnani trade and Phil has one less huge asset to work with.

Those were very good moves. I'd say if Phil can continue to build and not leverage giving assets time to mature and picks allowed to stick there is a good chance he, or anyone else can succeed.

Yes, he started in 2014 when Woodson was a lame duck, taking over for Grunwald, so it's technically midseason or tail end of the 2013-2014 season. Fired Woodson, traded Chandler and Felton for Jose and a whole lot of garbage.

2014-2015 season he hired Fisher to be his sock puppet to institute the triangle. Traded away Shump and JR and tanked away to Knicks franchise history.

2015-2016 Got lucky with KP, jury's out on Jerian, signed a whole lot of garbage free agents, RoLo half decent, and fired his hand picked coach.

By my count, that's 3 season's he's been a Knicks executive.
