He never has shown me anything. I've always wondered what some people on here that talk about him like he's gonna be a good player for us saw in him.

Nice to judge this poor kid on his second game back in months following getting shot.

I'm just talking about any time I've ever see him play NBA basketball.

He looked good in the preseason coming out of camp but didn't crack the rotation. I thought he appeared to have done a lot of work on his game. GEtting shot had to have set him back.

By preseason do you mean the summer league?? If so than the summer league is like the d-league where all any of these kids can look good.

No. I meant the preseason.

Early had one really good pre-season game. DWill averaged like 20ppg in the preseason though.

I wouldn't judge him on this. When he took over as Defensive Coach for Phil they won 2 Titles. They improved defensively.

Can we judge him on the offense or is that also off limits?

Are you gonna at least acknowledge that this roster needs some upgrades. The offense they're running is fine but could use some more talent to make it work better. You know this!

I know they need better talent, but I think the offense they're running is terrible. You know this!

The Hornets do not have that much more talent than the Knicks (when fully healthy) - and yet they're 44-33. Because they're well coached and play a system that suits their talent.

Knicks offense isn't what holds them back! It's the talent at guard IMO.

I thought the Triangle didn't need talent at the guard position?

I don't think it's the offense per se, so much as the coaching specifically. Rambis is terrible. I thought Fisher was pretty good.

Who ever said you don't need talent at guard? You don't need a ball dominant PG but that doesn't mean you can win with scrubs just running the Triangle. Make your shots and the offense would look just fine. Remember we're missing a lot when you don't have the penetrating guards you need in this offense.

So why has Phil downplayed the need for a PG?

I mean, I think they need a PG, but Phil said that's been overblown. Because of the offense.

Might just be Phil being Phil with his cryptic talk.

No Phil is pretty clear. There's no big need for a Ball Dominant PG. You can run this offense just fine with combo guards n SG's that have good passing and driving ability.

I'm judging him on his time in the NBA which i why i said that i've never seen much from him. Now if i would of said that he's been playing like crap since he's been back from getting shot that would be me judging him on his 2nd game back. Do you understand or should i get more detailed for you???

Yeah, this. I hope he gets a lot of time in the next four games. But I just really have never gotten the interest in him. He's looked like an average player in summer league. He's never looked ready for the NBA to me. I'm sorry. I am rooting for him, but I just don't know if I see it.

My good ness we say the kid hasn't shown much in one post and the guy who spent every game thread getting on certain players and coaches over and over and over again has something to say....hahahaha. I'm still rooting for the kid just like i root for any player wearing a Knicks jersey which is something i can't say for every "Knicks fan"

Dad Melo with five assists in the first half. It'd be nice to see him get a triple double to close out the year, get a little attention for how well-rounded his game has been this season.

Right! No need for a Ball Dominant PG! Talented Combo Guards that are SG size is what works best.

Right. It's good to have one of those combo guards and then put them next to one of best shooting guards of all time like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. That seems to be the key to the Triangle.

You do realize that the Triangle was around for decades before it was ever used in the NBA? The success of the offense isn't only measured by Kobe n Jordan. Heck the Bulls operated very well the 1st year Jordan retired. As has been noted Spurs and Thibs Bulls used the Triangle A LOT.

Oh, they gave him 6 now. But yeah he's made some good passes that guys missed easy shots.
