The time spent alongside Grant helped. http://nypost.com/2016/04/02/knicks-backcourt-dice-roll-shows-enticing-young-potential/ That comment tells me a lot about Gallo and Jerian and what they are being told or at least understand about their roles. A huge key to future success is the way our guards play their positions. Being aggressive on both ends really will make all the difference. The bigs need the guards to be the initiators and to create openings for the bigs to get easier buckets and one way to do that is to be a constant threat themselves. The guards simply MUST be aggressive for the Triangle to work properly. Shved understood his role best. Sasha in his own way also understands this and if our young guards can pick up that same approach it will really be a good thing for the future of this team. I'm really hoping Jerian, Gallo and Wroten can change the nature of how our guards play in terms of pushing the ball more and attacking the rim even in the halfcourt sets. The drive and kick game has to improve going forward. More Dribble Handoff drives, Give n Go and PnR initiated by the guards. We saw how much it helped for Jerian and Gallo to get into the paint. Probing the defense will open up the backdoor cuts and dump offs to the bigs for easy buckets. It will keep the team from getting stagnant and only looking to predictably feed the post. I'm going to be very interested to watch and see if they can maintain this more aggressive approach. |

There's still some things to worry about if Wroten, Gallo and Grant are our guards though which is they need to get their outside shot better or the other teams guards will just play back and dare them to shoot and i need to see Grant and Gallo do what they did against the Nets against an actual good team that plays defense so i'm really hoping they can show something in these last 5 games when we play better teams than that trash that the Nets had on the floor. |

I think they will get better with work and there are signs Jerian is getting better already. One thing that I do expect from Grant, Gallo n Wroten is pushing the ball more often than we saw with Jose n AA. We've been WAY below league average in terms of getting fast breaks and drives to the basket. Wroten by himself would get more drives to the hoop than our guards have done. |

He went from shooting 30%-35% to 43%-45%. The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. Some of us just refuse to see anything positive even tho there literally are signs of progress. No one has any patience!!! If they aren't perfect in year one it's off to the glue factory. I'm hoping for these young guards and KP to get together this summer and put in work. Development is gonna be very important for this franchise. We can't only rely on Free Agency. |
