Same for winning player.
Melo efficiency was always lacking and is bad-awful lately.
And with his high usage rate it is detrimental to team overall success.
Thomas on other hand is very efficient player even with having ball in his hands a lot.
For Melo to became a plus-sum player he should be complimented with a bunch of rebounders/defenders/facilitators who will clean up his volume shooting mess.
Or he should be on the team with other stars who will take ball out of his hands and use him as sharp shooter/post up player when the game situation is dictated.
Melo was always a master to get away from the situation when he is not the main (and only) focal point.
This is great for his brand and pocket but sucks for the team he plays for.
I agree with you. Efficiency is the most important aspect of a basketball player Melo is an inefficient scorer. But he has tried to be a better all around player he realizes his inefficiency and now he is implementing assists to his game which was another weakness and also he has given a better effort defensively. He is trying his best he will never be a 50% FG player that is asking to much. Good player who definitely isn't deserving of super star status.
The only way to became a superstar in NBA is to win... win a lot.
Not necessary the chip but to be a part of the contender, will you team to be a contender.
Nobody was able to do it all alone even the greatest or great.
And to get into this land player need to sacrifice. Sacrifice some $$$, some comfort, some ego.
So far Melo failed to do that but he is still in position to get it.
Only time will tell.
