Sura and Malone would be some nice additions to their team. A healthy Malone would especially be nice.

Well that ruins my summer. I was hoping for either Sura or Kobe to come to the Knicks and now it looks like we got neither

I like sura, but not getting him wouldn't ruin my lunch, nevertheless my summer....

I lost respect for Sura who tried getting that triple double a la Ricki Davis. He's a loser.

PG Wade
SG Jones
SF Butler
PF Malone
C Shaq

With that line-up, it's between them & the
Pistons for best in the East. Miami might
be the best if Shaq comes into the season
in shape.

please, be serious. The pistons destroyed the lakers who featured a guy named kobe. Wade is no kobe. NOt yet at least. Malone is nearly just a name and is one yr older, butler was a bench player last yr and eddie jones is, well, we all know what eddie is.

Detroit and miami shouldn't be put in the same sentence except that one :

detroit dismantled miami in this series.

Take miami line-up and try to name the 10 players.

Don't overestimate shaq, he surely can do a lot of things, but he can't do it all.

this is why I didnt really think the trade made sense for the Heat *if* it was to win a title w/ shaq.
Wade isnt close to Kobe, so why wil Wade/Shaq be better than Kobe/Shaq.
The Heat have no forwards on their roster. Ok they sign Butler and Malone. One just isnt good, the other was retiring because of a knee injury.
The Heat will be a team with Shaq/Wade, a good role player (who Shaq called a choker) in Jones, Doleac to backup Shaq who only misses 15 games or so a year and a bunch of guys from the ABA making minimum $$$, with little more than the MLE to add players the next couple of years.

The Heat arent scaring me... I thought they had a better future before the trade.

exactly. Though shaq could still be bring a lot if motivated, they'll soon have to sign him to a lucrative extension if they don't want to see him bolt somewhere else.

talking about mortgaging a future... they won't be able to win now, they lost some good young prospects in odom and butler so they'll be back to square one in a few "shaq years".

And reagrding the "the knicks can't mess with miami right now", if we run a lil bit, I don't see a guy like rasual butler preventing tim thomas to score 30 on his face every game.

Be real, they have absolutly no bench. Without shaq, they can't even win a game. Once or twice a game, I guess he'll have to get some rest. What a heavy load to carry for him right now.

Against him, you do what the pistons did. You let him score, and you stop the others. Can they do that to us ?

Actually, I think this year, more often than not, Kobe hurt Shaq's performance by keeping the ball away from him on offense.

imo shaq and kobe were better together. they'll both soon discover how life is hard when you don't have the other league best player on your side.

Rasual Butler F 6-7 205

Keyon Dooling G 6-3 190

the heat look to be a good regular season team just b/c they have the most physically dominating player in the league. that translates to 50 or so wins. BUT in the playoffs, are wade and jones ready to lift them to the next level in a 7 game series. maybe for a round but that's it. the only major thing shaq is bringing to miami is a buzz and asses in the seats. they'll still go the same distance in the playoffs whether they made the trade or not.

I have to disagree a bit. Provided they could have lured a center with the MLE (hard task, but they got the warm climate), they would have been really dangerous with the same team that seemed to have found an identity as a high energy team. I even envisionned them during the idiana series to be ready to go a step further next yr.

This trade made a great deal of sense for miami, the heat were hardly on the radar couldn't sell out the building, and had lost their place in the basketball world.

Now they have a chance at a title, don't laugh, eddie jones is far better than any third option the lakers had, and doleac can knock down a jumper, and Wade is unguardable.

If Shaq comes in shape the Heat are going to be at the top of the conference for years to come, and if they get malone they are in business

Malone would help their defense immeasurably.

And Wade is great. If he actually shares the ball with Shaq, he will put up better numbers than Kobe did this year. I think this Miami team has the potential to be really good, and the potential to be easily decimated by injury.

They still won't beat a healthy Detroit squad. The thing about Detroit is that they are uniquely suited to beating a team with a post offense (the defense of the Wallaces). I would give the current Knicks lineup with a healthy Allan a better shot at beating Detroit than Miami.

Maybe that's just me.

Basketball might be a team game, but if you have a pissed off Shaq with something to prove, that makes all the difference in the world.

Miami is relying on a center that can't dominate evry game anymore and now a 40 yrs old PF that could break down at any moment. Malone can't be asked to be a 35 min player anymore.

So what do we have ? Wade ? yes he's great but he missed a lot of games last yr, has no back up and will be asked a lot next yr.

Jones ? please. the only big thing about jones is his contract.

This was only a fiancial move as MS said, just to fill the seat and diminish the yearly loss of income. Title is not the goal, money is.

where's nalod to talk about starphucking when it appears to be the exact case ?

Please nalod, come back ! :)
