A question for all of you. I was thinking back to the summer when the Knicks said they wouldn't trade Camby for Webber in a sign and trade. Looking back, Camby, Harrington, and Eisley would've been accepted under the CBA for Webber and if Webber had said he wanted to play in NY, imagine that, I would've done it seeing Camby is hurt again and doesn't score often, imagine that lineup.

Ah, if only the Knicks had a scoring PF

Oh, and one more thing. Anyone think we could lure Lamar Odom back to NYC, since he grew up in NY. Then they could officially begin rebuilding around Odom, they could trade up in the draft and get Troy Bell. Sign a guy like Keon Clark, I'm so sick of this Knicks team, they seem so hopeless and the more I think about them, the angrier I get damnit. Why not rebuild? Boston did it and look @ them now. And New Jersey. Though nobody realizes, Indiana with Tinsley, Bender, Harrington, and O'Neal, not to mention a fairly young Jalen Rose are set for the future. Magic-Tmack, Mike Miller. Detroit-Ben Wallace, Jerry Stackhouse. Knicks-...

Sactown wouldn't have taken just Camby for Webber. Camby and Houston maybe, but not just Camby. I wouldn't have done that and i haven't changed my mind. Webber is almost as injury prone as Camby and is off to a slow start for what we are used to seeing from him. Camby is younger and will get better while Webber, like Sprewell and Houston, is in his prime. Stick with Camby cuz he'll do alright especially when he improves his jumper and has a less injure-prone season.

And Webber would still not provide us with a true inside presence. Of all the elite PFs, he is the one who operates most frequently on the perimeter.
We suck.

Ok, I agree with that, but do you agree that the Knicks need something/someone to build around. It seems like every year they just bring in more role players and never a guy that will get them over the hump. I seriously wouldn't mind to watch the Knicks lose if they had a young, promising squad, like the Clippers, but this bunch is old and mediocre. I also wouldn't mind if they don't make the playoffs, get a new, young coach in there, and trade Sprewell and Houston, get some younger guys like a Lamar Odom or Keon Clark, and finally make a good draft pick. The last time they built around someone was 1985 to 1996, they went to two NBA finals (Though 1 time w/o Ewing) and should've won it all in 1995 but they got in that big fight. You can't bring in roleplayers if there is no main guy, and it seems like there is no main guy in NY. Spree plays well lots of times, then he complains and doesn't play well. Camby has a good game, then something hurts him. Houston has a good game but gets burned on defense. Alright, enough of my ranting, that's just my take

If the right player becomes available (a Tim Duncan type player) then, great! But I don't know about Odom or Clark. I'd sooner keep the "Big 3" together than trade them for Odom/Clark/similar players.

I still think that we are a few role players away from being an elite team. I'm talking a big bruiser of a center to play alongside Camby (who would slip to the 4 spot) and a fresh young point guard to groom (with the help of Jax).

How do we get these kind of players? Well, it takes some smart moves in the draft and free agent market. BANG goes that plan then...
We suck.

Ha, agreed again, anyone think a team would bite on Kurt Thomas for a first rounder. I think it would be a great draft if the Knicks had 2 first rounders and a second rounder, because they could use the later pick and the 2nd rounder together and trade up to teams that need depth (denver, nj) and then get a PG like Frank Williams, Dan Dickau, Tito Maddox, Troy Bell, etc.,. and then a guy who can score downlow, like Carlos Boozer. Knicks are too far over the cap, though, to make any earth-shattering free agent pickups.

We've got enough role players as it is, I'd rather get a genuine SF and a young center like Marc who could possibly start someday.

Oh why oh why won't the sonics (yeah I know why bare with me) do this trade..

New York trades: Othella Harrington $2,475,000 to Seattle
New York trades: Latrell Sprewell $11,250,000 to Seattle
TOTAL: $13,725,000

Seattle trades: Calvin Booth $4,539,000 to New York
Seattle trades: Rashard Lewis $4,413,375 to New York
Seattle trades: Brent Barry $4,680,000 to New York
TOTAL: $13,632,375

TRADE ACCEPTED

Now I will admit I'm only interested in getting a true and not peaked SF but still, Lewis is going to be awesome.

Hey wazzup

I seriously dont want to part ways with Spree but i am all for the bite the bullet approach and start a partial rebuild. There is a small forward out there worth developing in Demarr Johnson just maybe Atl will part ways with him. If we have interest in changing our off, scheme to a more uptempo scheme these are the kind of guys we need. I would sooner part ways with Houston than with Spree though, cause he fits better. Brent Barry from Seattle doesnt sound bad either because he can play point, run an uptempo offence and shoot the three plus he is a big point. Personally i have lost patience in KT and have no desire in keeping him on the team. Marc Jackson is still our guy we gotta get him we need him now and for the furure. I know it will never happen but this five would be a decently atheletic and exciting squad to watch.

pg) B.Barry (6-6)
sg) L.Sprewell (6-5)
sf) D.Johnson (6-8)
pf) M.Camby (6-11)
c) M. Jackson (6-10)

ps

L. Postell deserves a legitimate shot at cracking the rotation. He is young and atheletic and can get up and down the floor. What do u guys think?

I like DJ as well from atlanta but I think we're too late to trade for him. Vaughn has been pretty decent after his horrid start so I don't think they want one of our PG's now.

I'm not sure, Spree is our most marketable player and we are getting good in return, but not what we should get for Spree. We need a center more then anything, Camby would do much better @ PF, and we could trade Thomas, Harrington or Weatherspoon for picks or for more to a team that needs help up front. Ha, remember a few years ago Knicks had no point guards, now they have 3, they had an overload of talent @ 2/3, now they barely get by with Spree and Houston, and they had no big men and now they have Weatherspoon, Harrington, Thomas, and Camby. I guess Layden hasn't been that bad. I think Spree is in the top 10 in minutes played, Chaney has to rest him more, that could help Spree and the Knicks a little.

I really don't want to split up the big three just yet, but the addition of someone like Keon Clark would be great this off-season. We need a guy who can come off the bench and cause problems down low and just mix things up. Then we need to develop Camby a consistant jumper and we'll be all set.

Definitely, I wish he would get a true chance. It seems that every time he plays considerable minutes, he scores points and makes an impression.
