I actually like the idea of AA coming off the bench. He can be the offensive focal point of the bench unit.

I would rather see Galloway or Grant start over Sasha though. Que sera on that part.

Right, so that AA will know what to expect next year if he opts into contract.

I don't see any upside to Gallo starting... why? Dude has not performed since Dec and hasn't shown improvements, only the opposite.

If I had my choice, I would have Grant start at PG and play Calderon at SG - Phil has essentially hinted that Calderon might be better suited at SG at this point anyway.

I do not really want to watch Jose chase Curry around screens tonight nor Sasha chase Klay around screens. That part seems like a bad idea. Sasha will hustle, I guess. Maybe he can be a little Dellavadova on D tonight?

Part of me wonders if benching Afflalo is a little bit of a nudge to get him to opt out this summer.

Either that or get used to that role which is what his role should be. He's a good scorer, doesn't move the ball, below average defender but has big games. Bench player if I have ever heard the definition

agreed. like i said, I like the move. I've been saying for a while it's the change I would make to the team. Start Galloway or Grant and move Afflalo to the bench.

Don't love starting Sasha, but he knows the Triangle and hustles, so

Are people just having a blind spot to how the team plays when Sasha is on the floor? If he was able to hit his shots at a higher % there would be no question about him playing. He actually plays the way a guard should play in the Triangle. He's just not that talented. He clearly knows the offense and executes better and faster than our other guards. He's got a high motor which is also important. I would love to see him take Wroten under his wing and help him to get acclimated. Gallo and Jerian need to pay closer attention to what Sasha does. Aside from missing jumpers! LOL.

well it took long enough for the coaching staff to make this move. not like they read this forum but i have been hoping this dude would get benched and now it's happened with 15 games left
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Love this move.
We need a go to scorer off the bench. Afflalo gives us that.
We also were relatively young and erratic off the bench with Williams, Galloway, Grant all getting majority of the ball. Now with Afflalo gives us that veteran guy that can give some stability for the 2nd unit.

Longterm (next season) this is the way to go.

I think there is a good chance that Afflalo and Jose are gone. Jose wants to be appreciated and Melo is talking about Rondo. That isn't going to lift Jose up and I think the fan base has been pretty hard on him. Afflalo said he doesn't know what he is going to do which is a dramatic turn from NY is where I want to be.

Well there is a poster called Nix who has a serious blind spot but other than him I am not sure.

I bet Rambis could go out and execute the offense better than O'Quinn but it doesn't mean he needs to be on the court. Sasha is a try hard guy that sucks at defending, shooting, and passing. It's actually laughable that he should get playing time over young guys that need minutes. Oh well.

Sasha brings energy, defense and leadership. If he could get his shots to fall he would be great for us. You also can't stop Vujacic from talking smack. He's competing hard against fits and he's talking out there to his teammates.

Affalo isn't getting it done. Sorry to say. He's a power fwd in a shooting guards body. He doesn't lead. His body language sucks. He's slow and unathletic.

anyway if we could get a point guard and shooting guard to out play Calderón and Vujacic we'd be in the playoffs. They are our best guards and that says alot alot how bad we are.

I do not believe in giving mercy minutes. Out play who's in front of you and you will play. There should be no exception

Sasha is not a good player but his activity level does play an important role. The team gets into a malaise at times and is just dragging up and down the floor. Sasha at least picks up the energy. Shved did the same thing for the Knicks but he's a better player. When we have more than one guy playing uptempo it makes a difference.

Rambis tries to allow Gallo and Jerian to play thru mistakes but at a certain point he has to take them out. If they're playing the right way they'll stay in, but when they start messing up, it sometimes makes more sense to let them watch for a while and get some pointers from a coach on the bench.
