Phil Jackson said he talked to Carmelo Anthony recently about the future of the team and said Carmelo is an important part of the future.

Phil Jackson says Kurt Rambis is fully capable of coaching the team full time but wants to see how the team responds the rest of the year.

Phil Jackson says he feels Carmelo is still a cornerstone and important piece of the franchise

What? This is Woj. Level stuff man. Rambis is staying but as an assistant once Phil comes down and coaches the team. This is his FA lure this summer to all the FAs. Read between the lines people. Phil is coming!

Nothing unexpected. Phil won't knock his friend Rambis and say he is not capable. But likelihood is he gets a new head coach and Rambis returns as an assistant. Brian Shaw at the very least will come coach here, who is better than Rambis, but would likely keep him on staff. And Melo is staying, nothing new there.

Phil just hand feeding all the Knicks fans exactly what they want to hear.

If that doesn't give you goosebumps down your spine, then nothing will. The system over the player is what I always say.

Why Chase what's not there? This FA summer is good of elite PGs. Conley is good but not elite by any means. The guard who would have been a good fit was Chalmers but he is off the board or should be.

Seems to me that the last guy Phil needs to be worried about is Melo. Upgrading the roster and further development of the talent he has is where he's going to need to be focused. There has been some progress even if it's not as much as was hoped for. No point in panicking or making rash decisions.

He said something about looking for underground ways to improve the PG. That's tough to interpret. My guess is development from within (Grant), a trade at some point, or maybe signing someone like Batum who offers more of a point forward/wing. I interpret it as not necessarily needing the playmaking to come from the PG position within this offense, but obviously he will need to upgrade the playmaking somewhere in the lineup, possibly from the SG position. Upgrading defensively at the PG is just as important or more important than the playmaking part of it. We can't keep getting shredded by every PG out there. Galloway or Grant solves that problem if you have the right SG next to them, which Afflalo is not. Batum might be.

Compared to last season, when we had a different starting 5 each game, this is pretty consistent. We are playing the same 7 guys consistently and maybe tinkering around with the last couple spots in the rotation here and there. We have a lot of very average players off the bench with overlapping skills, so it is hard for any of them to really separate themselves. But i agree, that is the coach's job to figure out.

I can live with that if the PG Phil finds is near elite defensively, capable of taking it to the rim, and taking what the defense gives you. Have to be very good to that, not necessarily elite. Still dont like Phil telegraphing his punches again.

He wants to spend less on a PG....(Ron Harper)....and more on the superstars (MJ / Pippen / Kobe / Shaq).

And I think I understand why he prefers a taller defensive PG. In the Triangle, the PG's are usually the ones who's first in line to slow down the fast break.

I think Phil wants to make one of these three into a starting PG.....(Grant, Gallo, Wotten)

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

I dont care what the stats say, Harper took a long time to thrive in the system. Might want to find PGs who have some experience at running an offshoot of the Triangle with some other team. Might help speed up the process of becoming acclimated to the system.

so your saying phil needs to get rid of the playerS he just got for better ones, AFTER JUST ONE SEASON.

That sounds like a prez/gm that's not on point, and doesn't know what he's doing.

If your telling me that's a good thing, your losing it yourself
