The consensus of a small, but representative group of NBA team execs and personnel types said there would be an interested, willing market for Anthony. But all state the obvious, that despite Anthony’s star status, the Knicks could not expect to fetch anything like the haul they surrendered for him five years ago.

http://nypost.com/2016/03/03/nba-execs-what-knicks-could-get-in-carmelo-anthony-trade/

Basically they say the knicks could expect a Good Player and a first round pick..... Me I see that as their opening offer because its there job to try and rob opposing GM's and lower the market for other teams players. All of them also said Melo is a star player and a highly productive player. The way I see it the starting bid for Melo would be a solid player and pick and Phil can add from there.

So this means the Knicks would likely get a semi quality starter/bench player on a bad contract and a few 2nd rd picks when they ask teams to take Jose contract too.

This is why we have nothing to worry about as far as this is concerned. If we keep Melo we have a top talent at small fwd. If we trade him he's going to get us a several assets. A pick and a player is good. Maybe cap space and future picks. It all depends on where he wants to go. The Clippers and Cleveland stand out. Miami too

I agree that's why I think the knicks will get more than a pick and a player. He's still a star player so their is no impetus to move him except to start the official rebuild. Even if Melo lifts his NTC the knicks don't have to move him unless its to their benefit as well.

the end is in the beginning. the knicks gave up way too much for melo, then grossly overpaid for melo, and now the knicks won't get nearly enough for melo.

dolan should be tarred and feathered and then run out of town on a rail. new yorkers deserve better than this lowlife.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

New Yorkers deserve some sht too...
A lot of fans supported any crap Dolan and Co hang on the team and went with the program.
At the end everyone will get what deserved.

The fact the cavs got 2 first rounders for Mozgov is another reason I think the GM's in this article are just talking trash to try and force the market to lowball the Knicks. Mozgov was an expiring deal that avg 6 pts, 5 rbs.

After Durant makes his decision this Summer. If Melo became available he would likely be the second best player a team could add next summer by a large margin and under contract for 3 more seasons.

A cheap contract too by market standards

Dont want low first round picks for Melo, thats what you get for Mosgov. I really dont want this to turn into a repeat of the Ewing trade. Problem is Melo knows Dolan's soft spot and thats disrespecting him in the media. If things get ugly Dolan might step in and influence the process. Even if Phil has a free hand, who knows what he will do? The Knicks reality show returns.

Yeah I noticed that too. The stuff going on now is par for the course for Dolan to demand someone be traded. The only good part is the trade Deadline is passed so it's less likely Dolan forces a drastic trade.

I'm hoping If the plan is too move him it'll be in July so as soon as the finals is over Phil will need to find a new HC so one is there at the beginning of FA.Depending on who he gets I think will have a lot of bearing in if Melo is moved (or will be a sign of Phil plans to move him at least).

The only deal I see is a three team with Cleveland and boston. Love to Boston and we should get the Brooklyn pick and another good player like amir Johnson or avery bradley.

Would love to see Thibs hired regardless. Usually Im a bit more optimistic about a new coach and a new direction when things are going bad for the team, but a new coach doesn't necessarily mean a new direction.

In fairness to Phil, for those who want to use his failed moves as an indicator of what he will do, Jackson had limited resources to maneuver with, and he ended the long Knick tradition of giving away draft picks for nothing at the same time. This really will be his first real test to improve the team now that he has a real asset going into negotiations. Melo has to approve, so Phil is going to have to hit all the right notes to make this possible trade work.

I think Cleveland is a dead deal because of his son and maybe even more so Lala. LAC makes some since but why give up Griffin? Also, if you do give up Griffin then I think you would want more than just Melo since Blake is better and younger.

By next year the only thing Chicago will have is Butler and what is left of Rose. Is that really a place people think Melo will want to go?

Miami may work but who knows what's going on with Bosh and Wade is a shell of himself.

So where is a good landing spot? One place that makes little sense but I could see happening is San Antonio.

I disagree. He had two assets that had value at that time in Tyson and Shump. He used those players to get some win now players and flawed cap space. He wanted Felton and JR off the books and used Shump and TY to jettison them instead of getting 1st rd picks and then working out buyouts with Felton/Smith or just waiting for the season to end to see if JR would opt out.

This is new to him so he is going to make some mistakes but those two where big. Another mistake this year was not trading AA or D.Will at the deadline. Plus, the misuse of the open roster spot they could have used all season to sign a young player to develop in the d-league and at practice with the team. They even held onto the spot after Early got shot. Also, what about Early before he got shot. Why was he getting DNPs while Sasha was playing? Why was he not getting time in Westchester? Why is Lou and KS still on the team and there spots are not use to see what some of their Westchester talent can do?

Phil has to do better and hopefully he will.

Ironically enough Boston. With the cap going up they wouldn't have to trade a lot of players to make the math work, he's been at his best with Dynamic PG like IT, and they could send the Knicks enough picks to make not gutting their roster an option. Also Boston isn't that crappy of a city.its not New York of course but it's not Cleveland either. If he wants to win a championship the best bet is he goes to Cleveland. If he wants to be a contender and live in a decent City I would think the Celtics are a contender. The Wiz too fit into that, but I don't see a deal happening without beal coming to NY with some picks.

Ive heard that argued before, that Tyson was more valuable. I have a problem with that line of thought. Tyson at the time was a shell of the player he had been, and he was throwing teammates under the bus, while leaving himself blameless. Felton was a half a season wonder, also got into that illegal handgun business, which didnt help matters. GMs notice these things. Thats why the only viable trading partner was the team that let Tyson go. Felton's play was making his stock drop.

Shump made geting rid of the most disruptive player in the NBA at the time possible. Look what happened when JR tested the market, cost him big bucks and showed just what other execs thought of his trade value.

Wouldn't minded AA traded, but Im all for holding on to Williams until at least the summer. This team wasnt going anywhere this season, and he's showing that he has something to offer this team. I know he has an option, still believe there is no harm in seeing how things shake out. Whatever moves that could have been made would have been baby steps compared to a possible Melo trade which could have repercussions for years to come.

And also a three way with the Clips and celtics (which has been posted many times).

My only concern with a 3 way trade is that Dolan would nix it and insist in keeping the big name (be it Griffin or Love)
