I think our front court is set unless gasol wants to come on board cheap so my focus is the back court

1. Batum I think batum could be the best option for our two spot cause he can play the three too
2. Demarr darozen if no batum I would make a serious run at him we need to upgrade the two spot
3. Mike Conley if we don't upgrade the 2 with ether of the two above
4. Rondo he might be cheap for being a head case
5. Eric Gordon if it all crumbles we still need to upgrade the backcourt
6. Jennings cheaper option if we go all in on batum or derozn

2017 hopefully will look like this

Lopez, gasol, Willy
KP 6, gasol
Melo,dwill
Batum or derozen, Galloway
Rondo? Cause we can't afford Conley if we get derozn or batum right? , jimmer

No idea if this is 100% accurate, but for reference, these are the numbers for 16-17, bare minimum. AA ($8M) and Dwill ($5.1M) opt out and Jose gets stretched. You have $38M to work with.

16-17 Salary
--------------------------------
Carmelo Anthony $24,559,380
Robin Lopez $13,500,000
Jose Calderon $ 2,000,000
Porzingis $ 4,317,720
Kyle O'Quinn $ 3,900,000
Lance Thomas $ 1,650,000
Jerian Grant $ 1,643,040
Galloway $ 845,059
Cap Hold1 $ 543,471
Cap Hold2 $ 543,471
Cap Hold3 $ 543,471
--------------------------------
Team Totals $53,289,835
Projected Cap $92,000,000
Cap Space $37,954,388

For me, I'd go Batum $15-17M, Bazemore $10-12M, and hope Pau Gasol would take the remaining on a 2 year deal ~$9M. If the Knicks could move KOQ for a second rounder to entice Gasol with more $, I would do that. I'd only think about signing Rondo to a 1 year deal, but I would give him Bazemore's slot. I think you can go over the cap with LT.

Rolo
KP
Melo
Batum
Bazemore/Rondo

Gasol, Willy, Jordan Bachynski
LT
Gallo, Antetokounmpo
Grant, Trice

What the hell, I added some Dleaguers for good measure.

Would not touch Rondo with a 10ft "free" Pole.

You'd think Steph Marbury was in NY bad eh?

If Knicks brass is smart they investigate which NBA FA is best whom "Wants to come to NY Knicks" period, first and foremost
outside the $contract they are signing.

Cant wish for all we want, Everyone uses NY and Playing pro atheletic sports in NYC isnt' for everyone.

You need someone whom WANTS TO BE HERE ,flat out. Won't be easy to find.

Carmelo is good example,
Back in the day Bernie King was like that.. Patrick Ewing was like that when drafted cause of the cultured community
and chance to grow into NBA star. Even when Spre and LJ (Trades) were brought to Knicks they played & acted like "New Yorkers"

So most of these former Knicks I know were not FA, but if you're gonna $take risk at FA, better know for sure
they love team, the city all of that. Being in NY isnt a big thing for most experienced NBA players.

Apparently when KP was drafted his hope was the KNICKS. 'That's what I'm taking bout'

On this post lists, Connelly, Demarr, Batum ..etc
I dont see any of these guys whom would want to be in NY over the city they are in.

I think Derozen is the balance we need since we won't get a point guard. Derozen likes being the man in Toronto so he won't come. Too bad because he's a legit scorer. The Knicks need another scorer to lean on and on this offense Derozen would score 10 easy points a night just making the right cuts in the Kobe role

I would love to add either Derozan or Batum at SG. We don't need a big name PG at the moment IMO. I think we should wait to see if Westbrook will want to come to NY. That said, we need to target a guy that can play the position as a potential back up for Westbrook: Vasquez, Chalmers, Delladova.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

thats a really great idea right there. throw money away on guys who MIGHT be a backup for russell westbrook, just in case he wants to come here. that's the way you build a team.

How are you throwing money away if you are only spending 5 to 6 millions on a starter for next season, with the caveat that he will be used as a back up to Westbrook if he is signed? Let me guess, you much rather pay 20+ millions to Rondo or Conley who are the quality talent of a Wstbrook.

i know martin has said it many times, but im 100% with him.. i'd like to bring in batum next year. he'd make the perfect 2 in this offense and defensively would be a huge upgrade over what we have. i'm figuring the 15-17mm that has been floated out there is probably right around what it's going to take to get him. that leaves you with around 22mm to play with. i'd go really hard after conley, pairing him with batum would really change our backcourt and our team overall. love conley's game, he's super-fast north to south, is a court-general, doesn't turn the ball over and can knock down 3's. it wouldn't leave a whole lot of money left over but, i think that's a huge start.

conley
batum
melo
kp
rolo

bench: hernangomez, grant, galloway, lance, koq.

obviously the bench is really thin, but maybe phil can find a way to purchase a 1st rounder and get a rotation player in there.

So you don't value a serviceable backup PG, just in case the main player is out due to injury? Question, how much is Shaun Livingston worth to the Warriors? He is getting 5.5 millions just to backup Curry. We can offer a similar deal to a guard with the same talent as a Livingston

arent there a million threads like this already? lol
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

No PG are interested in having a Ball-Hog Melo for a teammate after (Iverson, Billups, and Kidd closed door rumors of franchise Melo.). The only way a legit FA PG sign with us if we pay double their worth.
Its a must that Phil Jackson sign a LEGIT FA PG in the offseason no matter how much it cost!

Marbury was a shoot-first PG in the NBA.
Rondo is a pass-first PG .. the best type of PG for ISO-Melo.
Conley is a pass-first PG .. the best type of PG for wing players Melo n Porzingis.

Conley has big help in the backcourt in Memphis with Charmers n Stephenson .. he will Resign.
Derozen n Batum will resign.
The Knicks need to add more coaches to the coaching-staff, n let Fredette, Thanis, and Lance Thomas play SG.

sigh. you don't build a team by going after backup PG's. shaun livingston was added to the team AFTER they built the rest of the team.

Batum or Conley, then fill in the blanks.

The narrative surrounding Mike Conley Jr.’s upcoming free agency is always prefaced with a caution of loyalty: “He can never leave Memphis. He grew up around there,” the logic goes. “He was instrumental in Marc Gasol re-signing and he can’t ditch his friend.”

However, the coach who groomed him into an NBA star, Lionel Hollins, believes the Knicks' target will chase the money and financial security.

“I don’t know if Michael looks elsewhere but that might end up being the best move. Mike is at that crossroads where he’s (28) years old. He’s coming up on a contract year.

"He wants to get paid,” Hollins, who was fired as the Brooklyn Nets coach this season, said on SiriusXM radio. “Will Memphis pay him as much as somebody else? If he can get to a situation that has a future of winning or is he going to go to a team that doesn’t have a future of winning? That’s probably going to be important to him as well.”
