This is a good read on some of the options the Knicks have for the trade deadline.

basically...do nothing. lol
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I don't know.

Not enough rumors, as far as I'm concerned . . .

That's definitely an option but you never know what could happen after the teams trying to upgrade the most strike out on the bigger name players might decide to bring in a offensive player to come off the bench for them which would put a D.Williams or a L.Galloway or even a K.Seraphin into play.

The Knicks, who also strongly covet Teague in their search for a frontline point guard, are trying their best to get a team interested in Jose Calderon and the $7.7 million owed to the Spaniard next season. Sources say New York is talking up Calderon's leadership qualities and, in some cases, offering to include big man Kyle O’Quinn to sweeten proposals.

or not

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I will be super happy if Jose is traded. At this point, I would be mad as hell to see this dude on the roster and still is our starting PG until the end of his contract
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

I want to trade and despite the authors we can just sit back and let the phone ring attitude, this is the perfect opportunity to accomplish 3 things:
1. Get younger. As Stan Van Gundy correctly pointed out recently, the Knicks are a veteran team. Whether Beal, O Porter, Bobby Portis, Batum etc. those are younger guys who, along with KP, will blossom and grow within 2-3 years into higher caliber players. Beal and Batum are talented now.

2. I like Lance, Afflalo, and Williams but I'm not so enamoured that I wouldn't package them for youth and talent.
Likewise, Calderon and his $7.7 can help another team reach its goals.

3. MELO. The rivals in Boston have a super coach and 6 1st round pics in the next 2-3 years. They could use Melo whether it takes a 3D team to accomplish it. Likewise, if the Celtics don't entice LaLa and Carmelo, perhaps Chris Paul, his bud, can. I'll take the younger talent and with KP and a younger star, it leaves one big time guard to take the Knicks to where they can contemplate challenging for the Conference in a reasonable time. Take the residual cap (between $18 and $22 or more depending)and get a complete ball player. Teague? Rose? Conley, COLLISON?
Sure one of them is fine but we need a 6'5" SG that can D Up and shoot the rock. Maybe Avery Bradley? He's seasoned by now and who else ! Whose a killer guard the Knicks can secure? Perhaps Wait another year as there's an All Star MVP that may launch a fashion line in New York (and that's something he can't do in Oklahoma).

Knicks can't terminate the chemistry and the culture they ate trying to build just to "get younger". We need smart, hard working basketball players. We need to hold on to certain guys to make sure that locker room doesn't change too much. We have to stay away from the Felton, tyson chandler, shumpert, jr smith types.... all cry baby phonies. You can't win with a locket room poisoned with these type of players

The Knicks won't do anything because they don't have anything to give really. It'd be nice to get a team to take on Calderon without taking back long-term money. Outside of that there isn't much to do unless Melo wants out...

According to Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, there’s one player whom New York is not so keen on keeping around: Jose Calderon, who’s being packaged with Kyle O’Quinn in an attempt to rid the Knicks of the former’s contract.

The Knicks, who also strongly covet Teague in their search for a frontline point guard, are trying their best to get a team interested in Jose Calderon and the $7.7 million owed to the Spaniard next season. Sources say New York is talking up Calderon’s leadership qualities and, in some cases, offering to include big man Kyle O’Quinn to sweeten proposals.

There’s no telling which team could be interested in this proposal, but if Jackson has proven anything, it’s that he knows how to do the impossible.

When Jackson first took over, three players on the roster appeared to be unmovable: Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton, and J.R. Smith. All three were dealt, New York created cap space because of it, and Jackson crafted a roster to match his long-term vision during the summer of 2015.

The question, of course, is can he pull another rabbit out of the hat?

Calderon is making $7,402,812 in 2015-16, and has a guaranteed $7,708,247 coming his way in 2016-17. Even under the rising salary cap, that’s a significant hit for teams hoping to make a run at big-name free agents—something New York intends to do.

quins value is pretty much shot, and it really will take a rabbit out of the hat

It was also said that there was no way we'd find someone to take JR Smith or R.Felton or T.Chandler and Phil found a way to get all three traded. Now of course the Chandler Felton trade didn't really work out because of Calderon but Calderon was still playing good in Dallas so he actually had some value and we were still able to get rid of Felton in that deal so it wasn't a total loss and NOBODY and i mean NOBODY thought Phil would ever find someone to take on JR Smith but he did so lets see if Phil can pull off another magic trick. I think he'll do something, don't know how big or small that something will be but i'm just looking for anything right now. If he could find a way to trade Calderon without bringing back anyone that will hurt our cap for next year then i'd be more than happy with that.

What do you mean? Do you mean the knicks plan to shed salary?
