If want to avoid slow starts, may need an energizer off the bench to start right away.
To me the more obvious choice is to start Galloway at 2, and bring Afflalo in the 6th man role.
Afflalo can then pretty much play out the entire rest of the half when he comes in.
Of all the starters, I know this was early in the season, our record is least affected when Afflalo has been out. We were 4-4 with Sasha starting in place of him. And Sasha is not a starting 2, it just shows we won half of our games without Afflalo. In contrast when Melo is out we are 0-7. When Calderon was out we really lost our way on offense it was clear. When KP is out we can see the loss as well.
Afflalo hasn't made a big difference to our team on offense or defense. He can get real hot and score big, and he's been given tons of isolations under Fisher, but looks like that will change with Rambis. I like Afflalo as a bench player. A guy that can be the man on the 2nd unit. That's his role on a good basketball team. Longterm if we keep him (beyond this year) we should definitely move him to the bench.
Now that doesn't mean I think the Galloway/Calderon lineup will be great, but I could see them do better starts. More energy. More speed. More balance of passing/shooting. The type of team we are, we want players who are just as good a threat to shoot as they are to pass.
