Was only a matter of time. Karl and Cousins reminded me of MDA and Anthony...both coaches wanted their stars gone and tried to push for trades to accomplish it...and in today's sports world

Kings have some talent, and I know that Cousins is beloved by some, but I would think you have to put a lot of the blame for failure on the team on his shoulders, IMO.

You also can't say that Karl is inexperienced or a believer in an "outdated" offensive system of ball, but as we all know, you can't fire all of your players...so a head coach has be be the sacrifice.

I don't get why Karl seems to be so well-liked on this board and in other circles. He has a big presence (i.e. talk a lot, and doesn't hesitate to publically criticize people on any team), but has never done any meaningful winning in the league. I always thought his stubbornness and perhaps arrogance outshone any actual achievements.

I agree. Also, Karl was brought in to coach Cousins last February. I can't think of another situation where a new coach reportedly tried to get players to side with him against another player.

A guy I know covered Karl some when he was at Golden State. He has some not so flattering stories about young George Karl.

Karl from the Larry Brown Tree..........

Boogie is a child. Rondo is the strange uncle. Rudy won't stop shooting........
Vlad got a hold or owner, who is from the Dolan tree of idiot ego men.

Karl knows how to coach. Not likable but dude knows his stuff.

Exactly. Most good coaches aren't buddy buddy with their players.

Karl is horrible. Has issues with all of his star players over the years. Coaching that team never made sense. Bad fit from the start. This is the most predictable coaching failure of all time maybe.

I think the fisher hire takes the cake

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

You do realize he is 5th in all time wins right? You do realize that in hindsight you can see it clearly as he clashed with Cousins on day one?
You do realize that Vlad Divac's is like Isiah Thomas to his owner?

Yes, bad fit because one of two things:

Karl in his interview has not followed up on his plan or the Team has not followed up on the direction it wanted to go in.
Bad fit Like Larry and Isiah. Vlade got some hold on his owner. Very weird. Three coach's in three years.

Keith Smart was hired in 2012 and fired when new owner came in. When Karl is fired, they will have gone thru 5 coach's in 3 years.
Whats predictable is the Kings are a mess.

I'm surprised Karl has lasted as long as he did.

I went through this as a teacher...and it applies to the NBA in many ways.

Always the coach's fault...and god forbid if they expect all their players to act as responsible adults.

There are many great coaches from all sports who would have had trouble with today's athletes...The inmates now have the keys and make policy, and the media enables the prima donna children we call professional athletes.

Yes it starts with the mess that is the Kings. But Karl was a horrible fit there. I can dig into my posts here saying Karl wasn't going to last more than a year, and it's not just because of the organization, but because Karl is no longer suited for today's game. I was surprised he got another head coaching job. I don't care if he's 5th all-time wins. He clashed with Melo, Iguodala, it was easy to see Cousins and Rondo problems would happen. He's not the player's coach that today's game depends on. It was a recipe for disaster, no hindsight needed.

Wow...if you think the Knicks have issues...

This comes after an optional shooting practice was attended by only 4 players (Rondo was one of them), according to Hahn.

You have to wonder if they are trying to get him to quit to save them having to pay him

The old "park the audi on the side of the road press conference" the knicks used with Larry??

Yes, Karl was a bad fit but you bring in a guy the assumption is you will either clean house or the players will buy into it.
Cousins has a lot to blame here but he is a player so he is excused from bad behavior?

Clashing with players does not make the coach wrong BTW.
Why bring him in to begin with? Pay him his damn money and move on like the other 4 coach's. Who gets the gig BTW after him?
Does Boggie and Rondo pick? what if that does not work after a year or two.

And Malone goes to the Nugg's to coach them.......Jeeze!!!!

Funny, I just was listening to Brent Barry talk about how Bill Fitch's message didn't resonate with Malik Sealy and Pooh Richardson. Karl is in the same boat. He also reportedly tried to rally the players to encourage management to trade Cousins after two months on the job. He will get fired it just isn't happening today.

Correct, they are just delaying the inevitable, which is even worse.

I honestly think that Kings front office is now so sensitive about the media leaks that they didn't fire him just to prove the leaks wrong. That's how dysfunctional they are.
